We have been busy over the last two months with our desexing campaign! ✂️

Desexing is an integral part of your pets health journey. It can help curve behavioural issues and significantly reduces the risk of certain cancers including testicular, prostate, uterine, ovarian and mammary. It also eliminates the risk of pyometra (infection of the uterus) which can be a life-threatening condition in female dogs as well as any chance of unwanted litters, lessening the burden on animal shelters.

This August is Dental Month, where you can take advantage of a free nurse dental check and 20% off all dental procedures! 🦷🩵🐾

WARNING!! Graphic content

This one’s a big one! Everyone meet Von🥹🐾

In March Von presented to Dr Nat with a degloving wound after getting caught on some wire chasing a rabbit.
A degloving wound occurs when the skin and subcutaneous tissue is peeled away from the underlying structures.
Unfortunately for Von, this meant that almost a third of the skin below his elbow had lost blood supply, and even if we stitched the wound closed, the skin would die and it would not heal.
Luckily, Von had a very dedicated owner who wanted to try his best to save Von’s leg.
After consulting with a specialist surgeon, Dr Nat and Dr Amanda decided the best way to do this would be to perform a ‘pouch graft’.
This is a procedure in which a pouch is made in the skin of his chest, his leg is slipped through the pouch, and stitched in for almost two weeks.
Once the skin from the chest began to form connections with the tissue in his leg, we removed the pouch (still stitched to his leg), and used that as a skin graft.
After almost three months of daily to weekly wound checks and bandage changes, we are super excited announce that Von’s leg is now completely healed!
Von has won a place in all of our hearts, and although we will miss his weekly stays in hospital, we are so happy to see him back on all four of his feet. 🐾🩵
