Dear Friends and Customers, by now many of you will have noticed some of our models appearing on the Mojo 2022 releases.

We have been quietly working with Mojo in the background and are thrilled that they have been able to continue the Southlands legacy into the future.

The rising costs, complexities and time pressures of producing mass produced figurines had become too much for a small player such as ourselves and so we had to discontinue, despite great support from collectors worldwide... to whom we owe a huge debt of gratitude.

Some of you will be aware that Southlands was a branch of www.minizoo.com.au. While we had to wind up Southlands, MiniZoo has continued to thrive. At MiniZoo, we are particularly happy to continue to stock and sell Mojo figurines, and therefore some of the original Southlands range into 2022.

Thankyou once again for all your support. It's been an amazing journey!

Look where our girl showed up!

I bet it "Honked"... This is the skull of "Diprotodon opatum", a marsupial that got to the same size as a hippo in the latest Pleistocene. This was one of at least 13 individuals found in Bacchus Marsh (Australia) back in the late 70s. Did they travel in matriarchal herds like modern elephants today? It's entirely possible.
In the next few days, I'll be announcing an event I'll be speaking at (in mid September). I'll be talking about the recent discovery of Site B in the and how this is just the tip of the iceberg...

Detailing on the flanks and neck almost complete.

Marking in lines for neck detail. So many complex patterns and intersections. Reworked this section several times already since taking the photo, but it's starting to come together!

Detail, detail, detail - the arm is cracked because I've pulled it away to work behind it. It will be repaired and pushed back of course and no-one will see the scales underneath.. but I'll know they're there.

Adding body detail now - starting with the belly. This part is just the placement of the scales. Later will go back over it and refine the way each scale interacts with it's neighbour.
