Ever wondered how vets know what’s really going on with your pet? 🐶🐱

When we run tests, it’s not just about being “accurate.” We look at two things:

🔹 Sensitivity – these tests are great at spotting when something might be wrong. For example, a fever in a dog can be a clue for leptospirosis. But… lots of things cause fever!

🔹 Specificity – these tests are great at confirming what’s really wrong. If we find leptospirosis bacteria in urine, that’s a sure sign. But sometimes the bacteria just aren’t there to be found.

✨ Sensitive tests cast a wide net.
✨ Specific tests give us certainty.

That’s why vets often use a mix of both—to get the clearest picture and give your pet the best care possible. 💙🐾

Easter has become the quintessential chocolate celebration. Lots of Easter eggs and the tradition of hunting for the eggs. It is also the worst time to be the vet-on-call. The number of dog chocolate poisonings is ridiculous. Enjoy your chocolate responsibly and remember chocolate kills dogs.
