It does not happen very often that a handler just blows me away. Last night, junior handler Jennae and her little Max, did just that. After coming to me to work on Max' reactivity, we worked on basic structure and skills, like maintaining a position and handler focus. This includes clear communication and reward technique. 2 weeks later Jennae came back and excelled in these skills, PLUS Max showed off some super tricks already 👏 I was so impressed by the dedication of this young handler and I can see a career as a trick dog trainer and any other dog sport Jennae sets her eyes on 💜💙🩵

Brilliant work done in our Foundation class. We have been working on the stay, recalls and handlers even showed a trick. It shows when handlers do their homework. 💜🩵💙

When meeting dog owners who come to me to work with their dog, often physically managing the dog is a challenge and distracts from all the other important things you want to train with your dog. Therefore I often recommend a head halter, especially when you have a strong, energetic dog. This is a nice little explanation:

Reunion of the handlers from previous 'Walk-with-Me' programs was this morning. I schedule regular meets where handlers who have completed this program in the past are able to refresh the skills and experiences gained. I have found everyone who works in this group to be so supportive towards each other because everyone had similar experiences and understands how challenging it is to work with a reactive dog. I was truly amazed of how far they have come and one thing is clear. Reactivity only improves with lots of work invested in your canine companion and that was evident this morning. Thank you for letting me be part of your journey 💜

the fabulous teams in the Foundation class were working on focus under distraction. Then we introduced working on the bowl, 1st step is literally for the dog to step up and eventually move around. It is a great body awareness exercise and one of the most important steps for a competition obedience dog.

Group training is working on your skills under distraction. This time we reinforced ✅️ handler focus while walking with other dogs ✅️ maintaining a stay under distraction ✅️ training tricks to further close engagement and mutual enjoyment of doing things together - just you and your dog. Roger, has finally come out of his shell and performed a trick. Such a milestone for Roger who was so stressed initially, he could not even take food. The thing for us to learn here... never give up ❤️
