WHAT YOU DON'T SEE AT THE DOG GROOMERS.......
You dropped your dog off at the salon and picked them up few hours later - fluffy, fresh, and happy. But what you saw was just the tip of the iceberg.

You didn’t see your groomer arrive early to open up the salon, disinfect tools, lay out fresh towels, and check the day’s appointments. You didn’t see them look over your dog from nose to tail before even lifting a brush - checking the coat condition, skin, eyes, ears, nails, and weight.

You didn’t see the careful way they clipped around a wriggly paw, or how they paused to let your dog calm down during the bath. You didn’t notice the matting hidden beneath your dog’s topcoat, or the way the groomer worked slowly to avoid hurting the skin beneath it.

You weren’t there when they spotted a red patch of irritated skin, or a small lump you hadn’t noticed. You heard them gently mention it to you at collection - not to worry you, but because they genuinely care about your dog’s wellbeing.

And after you left, you didn’t see the clean-down , the floor swept, tables cleaned, blades oiled, messages replied to, notes written up for your next visit, and laundry on again.

All of that… for a price that’s often lower than what you’d pay for your own haircut. And your hairdresser?
They don’t have to bathe you, clip your nails, or hold you still while you try to bite the brush.

The truth is ……. dog grooming is so much more than a haircut.

It’s about health, hygiene, comfort, and trust. It’s about knowing dog anatomy, coat types, skin conditions, behaviour management, handling skills, and safe sc******ng techniques. It’s a profession that takes training, practice, and patience.
Most groomers got into this work because they love dogs. But that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be paid fairly for the physical, emotional, and skilled work they do every single day.

If your dog leaves their groomer happy, healthy and looking good - it’s not by luck. It’s because you have got a good groomer.
So next time, take a moment to thank them. Leave a review.

Tip them if you can. And above all - don’t undervalue them.
They’re doing far more than just washing the dog.

🌧️🐾 Are your pets cyclone-ready?
Severe weather can be stressful for our furry friends.
Prepare early to keep them safe!

✅ Create a calm, safe space
✅ Secure outdoor areas
✅ Have an emergency kit with food, water, and medication ready
✅ Never leave pets behind if you need to evacuate

Let’s help our pets weather the storm with love and care 💕

02/03/2025

As Tropical Cyclone Alfred approaches the Queensland coast, it’s essential to ensure the safety and well-being of our pets. Here are some crucial steps to help protect your furry friends during this severe weather event:

1. Bring Pets Indoors Early
As soon as local authorities announce an approaching storm, bring your pets inside. Keeping them indoors well in advance helps reduce anxiety and prevents exposure to hazardous conditions.

2. Ensure Proper Identification
Verify that your pets are wearing collars with up-to-date identification tags. Microchipping provides a permanent form of identification, significantly increasing the chances of a reunion if you become separated.

3. Prepare an Emergency Kit
Assemble a pet emergency kit that includes:
• A week’s supply of food and water
• Medications and medical records
• A sturdy leash or carrier
• Comfort items like blankets or toys
This kit ensures you have essential supplies ready during and after the cyclone.

4. Create a Safe Space
Designate a secure area in your home where your pet can stay during the storm, such as a bathroom or interior room without windows. Ensure this space is free from hazards and familiar to your pet to help reduce stress.

5. Keep Pets on Leash Post-Storm
After the cyclone, keep your pets on a leash or in a carrier when outside. Familiar landmarks and scents may have changed, which can disorient them. Additionally, be cautious of potential hazards like downed power lines, sharp debris, or contaminated water.

By taking these precautions, you can help ensure the safety and comfort of your pets during Cyclone Alfred. Stay informed through official weather updates and follow local authorities’ guidance to protect all members of your household, including your four-legged companions.

Meet Annie! She’s my only Dalmatian atm here at Dalilove Dog Grooming.

I provide one-on-one, consent-based grooming in an open-air, stress-free environment—right here in Clear Mountain. Whether your pup needs a wash, deshed, or full groom, I tailor the experience to their individual needs, ensuring they feel comfortable and safe.

People often ask how I came up with the name Dalilove Dog Grooming. It comes from Dalilove Dalmatians, my prefix for breeding Dalmatians, which I’ve had since 2005. “Dalilove” combines “dally” (short for Dalmatian) and “love.” While my last litter was in December 2016 and I don’t have plans for more, my love for dogs continues through grooming.

I’m based in Clear Mountain, just 7 km from Woolworths in Eatons Hill, 4 km from the IGA in Cashmere, and 10 km from Samford Village.

Looking forward to meeting your furry friends!

Get a short-haired dog, they said… Less hair, they said…

Meanwhile, Annie is out here shedding like it’s her full-time job! The only difference? Her hair is short, so it just looks like less (until you find it everywhere).

No matter the coat length, regular brushing is key—unless, of course, you enjoy accessorizing with fur! 🐾🐾

🌊 Unexpected Day Off Adventure! 🐾

Today, I had an unexpected day off, so my sweet girl Annie and I decided to make the most of it with a trip to the beach! 🏖️ It’s been about five years since Annie last felt the sand between her paws—having had multiple dogs made beach trips a bit tricky.

But today was all about her, and she absolutely loved it! Watching her play in the waves and soak up the sun was pure joy. 🐶❤️

Here’s to more spontaneous adventures with our furry friends! Have you taken your dog on any fun outings lately? Share in the comments! 😊
