Interesting read. Something to think about as Spring approaches.

Yup. You read that right… it’s the season for saddles to slip.
Why? There’s the obvious… the rotund beach ball types are getting their summer bods prepped. And excess chub = more slippage.
But… and this is an interesting one… I am seeing lots more RIGHT slippage at the moment.
Why? I think it’s the change in the grass and weather. It’s giving some horses a bit of tummy ache, which can make them a little short in their right hind. And, if y’all have read any of my stuff before you know I like to tell everyone all about how saddles that slip one way are usually linked to a hind limb asymmetry. And that can include one caused by gastric issues.
Has your saddle started to slip? Give your saddle fitter a call but also check your horse doesn’t resemble a beach ball… and if it’s only slipping one way, check that they’re ok in their gastric-y parts and hind end. 😘
