Say hi to Sophie Gower a talented newer groomer who has been competing under 2 years. Sophie has placed at every comp she has entered and has also had a Best in Group win!

🟢The Pet Show Dog Grooming Competition: What was your first competition experience like?

⭐️Sophie:
My first competition was nerve-wracking! I was so nervous, but the judges were all incredibly kind, and it ended up being a much better experience than I expected. I had this idea in my head that stepping into the ring with master groomers would mean facing a lot of unkind or intimidating people, but it was actually the opposite—everyone was so supportive.

🟢The Pet Show Dog Grooming Competition: How has competing impacted your grooming skills?

⭐️Sophie:
The critiques have been invaluable. Each time I go to a competition, I feel like I experience a huge boost in improvement. The feedback I get from the judges really helps me refine my techniques, and I see the progress in my work every time.

🟢The Pet Show Dog Grooming Competition: What do you enjoy most about competing?

⭐️Sophie:
I love the networking and meeting other people who share the same passion for grooming. It’s something I look forward to every time I compete. Plus, it’s helped me build my confidence. I’ve had people in the past try to hold me back, telling me I’d never win and that I shouldn’t even bother competing. But for me, it’s not about winning—it’s about learning, growing, and having fun.

🟢The Pet Show Dog Grooming Competition: How does competing affect your day-to-day work?

⭐️Sophie:
Since I work alone now, competitions give me a chance to step back into a “salon” environment. It’s so refreshing to work side-by-side with other groomers, watch them grow, and learn alongside them. It’s a really cool and motivating experience.

🟢The Pet Show Dog Grooming Competition: How does competing keep you connected to the industry?

⭐️Sophie:
Competing helps me stay up to date with grooming styles and trends. Plus, I love checking out the market areas at competitions—they’re a great way to find and invest in high-quality products. It’s all part of staying sharp and connected to the industry.

⭐️ 2024 update ⭐️
It’s been an adventure filled year for us and the dogs, exploring this beautiful country with a lap around Australia!

We’ve now returned to our HOME SWEET HOME & have some exciting news with an upcoming mini Aussiedoodle litter due late January 2025!! ❤️

The lovely little Molly has just joined her beautiful new family - and we know how much love she is going to get there as her new human mama had happy tears when she chose her, and happy tears when she just received her ❤️ Molly is going to be living locally so we can’t wait for Beach catch-ups when she’s bigger!

🌸 Miss Indie 🌸 By far the most relaxed puppy of the litter. She’s a sweetie, an old soul for sure. This sweetheart is heading to Cairns to join her new human mama. We can’t wait to see what adventures lay ahead.
