Hi everyone, am just giving a rundown of what I offer again.
As an offering I available to mind guinea pigs privately at my home and only guinea pigs. I have 35yrs lived experience with them and medical and other knowledge I managed a rescue for 8yrs and was a registered breeder in my teens but once I became aware of the amount of guinea pigs needing help that were unwanted and neglected I began working with my local RSPCA and opened my non profit guinea pig rescue and sanctuary. I never bred any from then on the need for those needing help was too great alongside better knowledge for guinea pigs needing to be spread. At my rescue the largest number I ever had at once was 350 guinea pigs which my volunteers and I managed and cared for. At times people would surrender up to 60 at once.
With my guinea pig minding now, medical clients are fine as long as it is nothint contagious. They must not have contagious conditions e.g: coccidiosis, mange mites or fungal conditions they must be completely healthy and well except for medical ongoing issues that are not contagious such as needing painkillers for arthritis for example. I will turn someone away if the guinea pig has a contagious condition (but with advice on how to treat this) as I reuse bedding etc between clients. All bedding is washed at 60 degrees in between use and bowls etc washed aswell.
I only mind up to 4 guinea pigs at a time and only 1-2 clients at a time I don't do larger groups. If I have 2 clients booked already sadly that is a fully booked situation.
I have never minded a guinea pig where they have gotten sick or died ever.
What you receive with a stay:
A stay in a private sanctuary abode with no other animal types and no kids. Surrounded by trees and birds it is very tranquil.
An indoor 1.2m or 1.4m enclosure.
Their own private room.
Fresh timothy hay and vegetables and Oxbow pellets daily alongside lupins or oats as a treat if they'd like to try them. Fresh water daily.
Bedding is layered toggle bath mats or fleece with all accessories provided aswell like hidey houses and fabric hidey and cuddle cup beds it varies I intuitively pick the design for your pets each time.
Nail trimming I can do for an extra $5 per guinea pig. I prefer not to do a bathing service nowadays but can offer a shampoo and condition and basic coat trim if you really need it and worming. Worming is $5 per guinea pig.
Aircon avail if required and blankets in winter and heating if required in winter aswell.
My prices:
$26 for two guinea pigs a day everything included and although some places may be cheaper this is actually far cheaper than a dog or cat minding and also includes all food etc I'm paying for. Guinea pig services often undercharged and I'm offering you a private abode and different experience and my own 35yrs experience here I actually undercharge for what you receive.
$20 a day for 1 guinea pig.
Much love everyone. Guinea pigs have been my favourite animal since age 6yrs old it is like I understood them and connected immediately. I do also love pigs and rabbits and sloths mostly herbivores even cows!
The only reason I do not still do rescue work is due to funding and also I've been on my own health and wellness journey but I do bery much care still and have considered opening my home maybe to up to 4 needing sanctuary at a time but am holding off still for now.
Pictured here is me now and then some photos noone ever saw of me of my show guinea pigs who actually did exceptionally well I bred only longhair and white and creams and rarely sold any I kept everyone didn't trust people with my guinea pigs. I used to feel alot of shame about those years once I started in rescue but I did learn alot I learned how to groom guinea pigs right and alot of other things and did adore my guinea pigs I did have that period of my life and it cannot be erased lol. Also there's a couple of photos of some guinea pigs that crossed my path and some of my rescue setups.
Jess.
