🩺 Knowledge in Action: CPR Training at Foxwell Vet Coomera

Dr Will and Nurse Amanda joined the team at Foxwell Vet to deliver hands-on CPR training.

Emergency care doesn’t exist in isolation—it thrives when knowledge is shared and teams work together. By collaborating with our colleagues in primary care, we strengthen confidence, refine response skills, and ultimately support better outcomes for patients in critical moments.

Thank you to the Foxwell Vet team for welcoming us into your clinic and for your commitment to continuous learning.

Celebrating our RECOVER Certified Rescuers! 🩺🐾

Congratulations to our veterinarians, nurses, and nurse assistants who have recently completed their RECOVER Certified Rescuer training.

The RECOVER Initiative is the internationally recognised authority in veterinary CPR, setting the gold standard for evidence-informed resuscitation. To remain certified, participants must undertake this rigorous training every two years, ensuring their skills stay sharp and ready for when every second counts.

Your commitment to mastering and maintaining this life-saving skill reflects your dedication to better patient outcomes and compassionate, expert care.

Thank you to Dr Courtney Reddrop for instructing the workshop and sharing his extensive knowledge with the team.

A paws-itively great day in Mudgeeraba! 🐾

Last weekend, Nurse Amanda and Nurse Taya joined the community at Paws at the Park in Mudgeeraba.

They loved connecting with local pet owners, meeting so many wonderful dogs (and a few curious cats!), and sharing important information about paralysis ticks - a serious risk in our region. Many visitors left with a better understanding of how to recognise early signs and protect their pets from this preventable threat.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by for a chat. Your commitment to your pets’ health is what keeps our tails wagging. 🐶🐱

Shoutout to Dr Will and Nurse Amanda who recently spent time with the team at Hinterland Veterinary Surgery delivering hands-on CPR training.

We’re always proud to support local primary care teams with practical skills that can make a critical difference. Sharing knowledge, building confidence, and working together - because better patient outcomes start with better preparation.

Thanks to the Hinterland team for the warm welcome and commitment to continuous learning!

One Blood Donation. Three Lives Saved. ❤️

When a dog donates blood, the impact is powerful, just one donation can help save up to three other pets in need.

From trauma and surgery to snake bites and serious illness, blood transfusions are often the critical turning point.

It’s one of the most meaningful ways a healthy dog can help another.

Could your pet have eaten rat bait? Here’s what to watch for.

Even small amounts of rat bait can cause serious internal bleeding in dogs and cats, often days after ingestion. Early signs might be subtle, but they can quickly become life threatening.

Common symptoms include:
🔸 Pale gums
🔸 Lethargy or weakness
🔸 Coughing or laboured breathing
🔸 Bleeding from nose or gums
🔸 Vomiting or diarrhoea (with or without blood)
🔸 Bruising or swollen abdomen

If you notice these signs, especially after known or possible bait exposure, seek emergency care immediately.

🐍⚠️ Snake Season Alert: Keep Your Pets Safe! 🐾

With a recent increase in snake bites reported in South East Queensland, it’s crucial to take extra precautions to keep your pets safe.

Tips to Protect Your Pets:
✅ Keep grass short and clear away debris where snakes can hide.
✅ Supervise pets outdoors, especially near bushland or water sources.
✅ Walk dogs on a leash and stick to clear, open paths.
✅ Teach recall commands to keep them from chasing wildlife.
✅ If you see a snake, keep your pet away and contact a licensed snake catcher.

🚨 Signs of Snake Bite in Pets:
🐾 Sudden weakness or collapse
🐾 Trembling, drooling, or vomiting
🐾 Dilated pupils or difficulty breathing

If you suspect your pet has been bitten, seek emergency vet care immediately.💙
