It is vital you take all the measures to correctly socialise your puppy and set them up for success to help them develop into confident adults. But what does this actually look like?
Socialising a puppy should really be called exposure therapy, meaning you want your new best friend to have a wide variety of positive experiences with everything. This includes meeting new people and other dogs, grooming, the vet, exposure to different noises such as fireworks, thunder and much more. It is best to do this during their critical learning phase between 8-16 weeks old.
If you have missed this critical window with your furry friend, remember its not too late to train them and everything you do goes a long way. If you are looking for a puppy school or dog training classes check out our friends over at Positive response dog training. These lovely trainers have a wide range of classes catered to your needs and even host puppy school right here at out clinic!

It is equally important to ensure your little one is up to date with vaccinations and parasite prevention to ensure they can socialise safely. At My Local Vet we have an early finish vaccination to ensure your puppy can get out and about during this critical window without any worry of nasty bugs ruining the fun.
