☀️ The Warm Weather is Here – Snakes Are On the Move in the Whitsundays! 🐍
Brown snakes are one of the most common and venomous snakes in Australia. Sadly, encounters with them are not uncommon, especially for curious pets who love exploring.
🐾 Why are brown snakes so dangerous?
Their venom is highly toxic and can be life-threatening within hours.
Even a small bite can deliver enough venom to cause severe illness or death.
Dogs and cats often get bitten on the face, legs, or paws while investigating.
⚠️ Symptoms to watch for in pets:
Sudden weakness or collapse (sometimes pets collapse, recover briefly, then worsen)
Trembling or shaking
Loss of coordination
Vomiting
Dilated pupils
Paralysis or difficulty breathing
⏱ What to do if you suspect a snake bite:
Seek immediate veterinary care – every minute counts.
Keep your pet calm and as still as possible to slow venom spread.
💡 Prevention Tips:
Keep grass short and gardens clear to reduce snake hiding spots.
Supervise pets outdoors, especially in warmer months.
Be cautious around water sources, sheds, and bushy areas.
👉 If your pet has a suspected snake bite, contact your vet immediately – it could save their life.
