🦷 There is hope for cats living with Feline Chronic Gingivostomatitis (FCGS).
FCGS is one of the most painful conditions we see in cats. Many patients struggle to eat, groom themselves, or even swallow because of severe inflammation inside the mouth.
For many years, treatment options were limited to pain relief, antibiotics, steroids and, in many cases, full-mouth dental extractions. While surgery remains the gold standard for many cats, not every patient achieves complete remission.
The exciting news is that veterinary medicine continues to evolve. New targeted medical therapies are becoming available for selected cats, particularly those where feline calicivirus is believed to play a role in the disease.
