🐾 Important Update begins at the Tiny Vet Clinic next month 🐾
At ACT Pet Crisis Support & Tiny Vet Clinic, our mission has always been to support pets and their people when they need it most πŸ’™
As demand continues to grow and resources remain limited, we are making some important changes to ensure we can continue helping those who need us most.

🚨 What’s changing?

From 1 July 2026:

❌ We will no longer provide services for pets that are not desexed, unless:
β€’ Your pet is too young to be desexed
β€’ There is a valid medical reason to delay or avoid desexing

❌ We will no longer offer microchipping for new puppies and kittens
πŸ‘‰ This should be completed by the seller or breeder before your new pet comes home

If your pet is not yet desexed, you will need to:
βœ… Provide proof of a desexing booking, or
βœ… Provide documentation from a vet explaining why desexing is not suitable at this time

πŸ’™ Why are we making these changes?

At Tiny Vet Clinic, we are committed to:
βœ”οΈ Supporting responsible pet ownership
βœ”οΈ Reducing backyard breeding
βœ”οΈ Using our limited funds to help pets most in need

🐢🐱 Why desexing matters

Desexing your pet helps to:
πŸ’Š Prevent certain cancers and serious health issues
😌 Reduce roaming, fighting, and unwanted behaviours
🐾 Reduce unwanted litters and animal suffering

🚫 Tackling Backyard Breeding

One of our key goals is to stop unintentionally supporting backyard breeding.

Responsible breeders ensure that puppies and kittens are:
🐾 Microchipped
🩺 Vet checked
πŸͺ± Wormed
πŸ’‰ Given at least their first vaccination before going to a new home

βš–οΈ Know the law

In both the ACT and NSW:
πŸ“Œ It is illegal to sell or give away a dog or cat that is not microchipped
πŸ“Œ Microchipping must be done before sale (or by 12 weeks of age in NSW)
πŸ“Œ Registration is mandatory and must be kept up to date

By following these laws and desexing your pet, you’re helping create a safer, kinder community for animals πŸΎπŸ’™

🀝 We’re here to help

We understand that times can be tough πŸ’”
Our goal is always to educate, not exclude.

πŸ‘‚πŸΎ Lexie – Ear’s the Problem πŸΎπŸ‘‚

Poor Lexie had been struggling with a sore ear, so her owner took her to the caring team at Belconnen Veterinary Centre for help. After examining her ear and checking a swab sample under the microscope, the team discovered Lexie had both a yeast infection and Cocci bacteria causing her discomfort. 😒

Thanks to support for her medication, Lexie was able to head home with treatment and plenty of love β€” and we’re sure she’ll be feeling much happier very soon! πŸ’•πŸΆ

πŸ• Signs your pet may have an ear problem include:
πŸ”Έ Head shaking
πŸ”Έ Scratching at the ears
πŸ”Έ Redness or swelling
πŸ”Έ A bad smell coming from the ear
πŸ”Έ Sensitivity when touched around the ear

🌾 Foreign bodies such as grass seeds are a common cause of ear infections and can sometimes require sedation or anaesthetic removal by a vet.

πŸ’‘ Regularly checking your pet’s ears for redness, swelling, discharge or odour can help catch problems early before they become more serious.

⚠️ Important reminder:
Please NEVER stick anything down your pet’s ear. You can accidentally push foreign material further into the ear canal and cause more damage.

If you notice signs of discomfort, it’s always best to have your pet checked by a veterinary professional. 🩺🐾

β„οΈπŸΎ Tiny Vet Clinic Update - 20.5.26 πŸΎβ„οΈ

What a glorious winter day we had at Tiny Vet Clinic with plenty of eager patients coming through to see our amazing vets and nurses! πŸ’™

Mr Bo and Miss Becky were absolute stars during their routine arthritis injections, while poor Armani finally got some much-needed relief for her relentless itchy skin with a treatment plan now in place to help keep things under control. 🐢✨

Little Lulu made everyone smile with her wonderful progress since starting treatment last week. Dr Arul was so pleased to see her feeling brighter, and her devoted mum was thrilled to see her cheeky personality shining through again. πŸ₯°

Tiny senior Teddy came back for a recheck on an infected lump and is healing beautifully! His dedicated mum has already booked his next visit and vaccination online β€” a fantastic reminder of how important it is to register early for follow-up appointments, regular treatments, and vaccinations. πŸ“…πŸ’‰

Baby Hershey wasn’t too sure about vaccinations at first πŸ˜… but with some gentle reassurance, calming words, and treats, he was an absolute champ for his examination and vaccination. πŸ–πŸ•

One of the biggest things pet owners can do to help their furry family members is gentle handling at home. 🐾
Touching paws, ears, tails, and mouths regularly helps pets feel more comfortable during vet visits and reduces fear and anxiety. This makes examinations safer and less stressful for both pets and our veterinary team.
Even just getting them used to different people patting them can make a huge difference! πŸ’™

The very handsome Onyx was the perfect example of a calm, well-behaved patient, allowing the vets to properly assess his condition without stress. πŸ‘πŸ•

A HUGE thank you to the wonderful families who donated bedding, collars, leads, food, and toys. Your kindness means the world and these items will be put to great use helping pets and their loving owners in our community. ❀️
