Monday Market Update
A relatively quiet morning, with some welcome price relief for Iceberg lettuce (now under $3 each). Still Victorian, but Xerri will start in a few weeks’ time.

Another price drop: Josephine pears came in below budget and are now $2.82/kg. One of the most fragrant pears, worth a try.

Persimmons are back, albeit smaller fruit than usual.

Regular cherry and grape tomatoes are scarce, but there’s plenty of black and yellow cherry.

Also, Roma tomato supply from North Queensland is picking up - back on the Marketplace menu.

All-in-all, market prices are yet to fully price the effects of higher fuel prices 🤞🤞🤞

Today we celebrate International Women’s Day and the incredible women who make up our Box Divvy community.

Our Hubsters, mostly women but we have wonderful men taking up the call for change too, are more than organisers of good food. They are community builders, change makers, and champions of Australian farmers.

Many of you are women who have stepped up to create food communities right in your neighbourhoods, bringing people together around fresh, affordable produce.

You’re making real change every single week by:
• Building stronger neighbourhood connections
• Making fresh, healthy food more accessible to families
• Supporting Australian farming families to keep doing what they do best, growing food and food wholesalers who feed our nation
• Leading with generosity, care and purpose
• Lifting each other up and showing what collaboration looks like

Being part of this network means knowing you’re never doing it alone. You’re one of many passionate women who believe food can bring people together and that small local actions can create big collective impact.

🔷 It’s peak tomato season, and the prices are looking juicy, literally. Here’s what’s on the menu this week:
Roma Tomatoes – $4.23/kg
Field Tomatoes – $3.84/kg
Truss Tomatoes – $4.61/kg
Truss Tomatoes (5kg tray) – $3.60/kg
Cooking Tomatoes 1kg serve – $2.56/kg
Heirloom tomatoes - $9.80/kg or $2.11 each
If you’re after serious value, grab a 5kg tray of truss tomatoes for $18 (that’s only $3.60/kg). To put that in perspective, Coles has them at $6.90/kg.
If you’re after something special, try some Heirloom tomatoes from Perfection Fresh. They are worth the upgrade. Heirlooms are grown from older, non-hybrid seeds, so they’re full of unique flavours and colours that you won’t find in supermarket varieties. These ones pack intense, complex taste with a firm, low-juice texture that’s perfect for slicing and serving fresh. They truly taste like summer in every bite.

🔷 Brussels sprouts? Not everyone’s favourite, although plenty of our members love them. But wait until you taste these. They’re unseasonal, sure, but also unseasonably cheap at $8.84/kg (Coles is charging over $20/kg right now).

My friends had a good laugh 🤣 at my rain outfit last week, so I took it upon myself to create another look. Today's sunshine 🌞 was begging for a summer outfit, and I happily obliged with a halter-neck onion bag dress. And let's be real, accessorising makes any outfit pop - I'm particularly fond of this blue scarf that started life as the lining of a cucumber box, it's the ultimate reuse and recycle job! 🤩
