I've decided not to make teats this year; I've decided it's too stressful to adult and sort out all the things I have to do, given that the season is upon me and I have too many other commitments demanding my time.
I'm sitting out making teats this season; if the season explodes and teats are in huge demand I will rethink and start making them, but this year is time out for me.
Sorry if I'm letting anyone down.

If I make teats, Janine from the Shoalhaven will be selling them for me; I'll post the details if and when I have teats for sale.

Bear with me; this is a difficult post to write.

I promised you all I'd be making teats and dummies again this year, and bought 20 litres of latex a few weeks ago to achieve this goal, but the latex is too thick and has bubbles in it and they won't settle and pop out.

I have $420 worth of latex which I can't use at the moment (if ever). Now I've opened the bucket it needs to be used or I just write off $400ish plus the cost of the colouring already mixed in.
I tried to make them before I went away 2 weeks ago, then the bubbles issue came up, so I left them to settle while I was away.
Since returning the issue remains unfixed; I have tried diluting altering the thickness, but it's not working. I make test teats every day and spend hours mixing up the latex but it's still not working.
I don't know what the issue is, or if I've just gone mad and forgotten my recipe, or if the latex is different, but in 15 years I've never had issues like this and I use the same latex and same colouring every year.

The company is looking into the issues with this latex and may refund me, but in order to make more teats I have to buy more latex till they decide if they'll refund the money (and the 20 litre bucket will still go to waste)

It has got to the stage where I dread seeing how the next batch works out; I don't want to get up in the mornings and I'm running out of buckets to dilute and remix.
I'm also stressed by all the orders pouring in, which I can't fill.

So I've decided to not stress myself over this (well, I'm pretending I'm not stressed by it but I really am).
I'm taking a few days away from it all (everything) and then I will decide if I can make teats this year or I need to just reduce stress and give this year a miss, and waste the latex. I hate wasting things so I'm torn in every direction.

So, for all the people who have ordered, I'm sorry, in the short term I can't fill your orders. If the samples turn out OK and the company replaces my latex, I'll think about what I'm going to do next week, but in the interim I'm feeling incredibly pressured and it's too much for me.

Add into it all some serious computer issues over the last month, the fixing of which requires me to learn new software in a hurry (and I'm not good at that).

I need to take a break for my mental wellbeing at this stage and I might just need to not make teats this year.
I'll figure out what I'm going to do next week and IF I'll continue making the teats for the year.

I get it that this might leave some of you in the lurch, for which I regret and apologise.
You should be able to buy teats and dummies from other providers.

Please don't ask questions on this post; I won't see it because I don't get notifications.
I'll put up another post next week with my decision.

Teats and dummies being made as we speak.

READ the following carefully please.

I'm time poor: please order in 10s (not singles), and if you can order for your group and distribute, you'll save a heap in postage and I'll save a heap in time and packing.

*** I have small teats (suitable for the first 6 or so weeks); the shapes are all a little different but suitable for this age.
*** I have larger teats in 2 thicknesses: soft and hard. Suitable for bats after 7 weeks or so; for guzzlers pick the harder teats.
*** I have a few weird shapes; email me for pics of those and descriptions for what they're good for or what's different about them.
*** I have different shape dummies. I don't do hand picked selections, but you can ask for more crowns than the other shapes. THere are no dummies here that I wouldn't use myself for my own batties.
Crowns are the long skinny ones with turned over zigzag edges. I charge 200% more if you call them dildoes! Just saying.
*** I don't hand select for colours but if you really hate a colour say so and I'll do my best to w**d that colour out.

No pretty painted dummies yet until I have time to sit and ruminate and decorate.

I'm afraid the prices are a little random according to how many you buy and how much trouble it is to sort and pack them. As a guide, they're from 75c to $1 each, depending on too many factors to elaborate. Sorry for being random but I'm trying to give you the best price I can give you for my time.
I could just charge you all $1.25 a teat and not engage, but I am working on a sliding scale according to need and finances and volume.
If you're a group baby stabiliser please let me know; I can work with this.

Take pity on me; my brain isn't coping well at the moment and the person I had lined up to pack and post all my teats for me has quit before even starting (sensible lady).

It's apparently raining babies all up and down the east coast of Australia. Who'd have thunk it?

Because of the numbers of babies "falling from the sky", I have reluctantly been persuaded to open another bucket of latex, which commits me to making teats for the next 6 weeks or so.
I started production again today. By next week I'll have enough to start selling. Please order in multiples of 10, and if you can order for your area and distribute I will be a happy girl. Colours and shapes will be mostly random, however you're welcome to request bigger teats or smaller teats in your package.
Postage will be a post satchel, flat rate $11.

You WILL have to chase me up regularly until I send you an invoice. I don't mind people EMAILING ([email protected]) me to ask on the progress of their order. Anyone further down in my inbox below 50 emails is likely to be forgotten unless you remind me. Welcome to the chaos of Meg's brain.

Here's little 10 day old Hitchcock, to appease the algorithm gods and to delight customers; Hitchcock likes to stick his ankle in his dummy. He also likes to poo a lot (the poonami prince) and then stuff his pooey foot into the dummy as well. ICK.

Baby season is fast approaching, and I have teats and dummies for sale, however I am very time poor and this FB page is a total bastard to administrate and doesn't give me notifications of messages or comments. (possibly because I refuse to update my software)

My father is dying and both parents are in a nursing home and very high maintenance, so you're going to have to be gentle with me and understanding (and remind me if I forget). FYI, I forget things a lot and there is chaos in my brain. I love it if you remind me so I can get your teats to you quickly.

I don't have a car this weekend; the bonus for you is that I get to have the time to package up all the teat orders if you order by Saturday (7th) night, and have them posted by Monday.

If you possibly can, would you group together with other batty carers locally and order as a group so it's one postage? (cheaper for you) and a single order rather than multiple orders for me.

I won't be hand selecting every teat and every colour for you; if you ask for 20 teats assorted, and 20 dummies, assorted, and that you HATE green, I'll make sure you don't get green ones but I'll send you a selection of teats which will suit the baby up to 4 weeks and a few that are slightly larger which will work well thereafter. I have many slightly differing shapes and colours.

NEW people: don't be afraid to ask what I think would suit you for what age babies you're doing.

I have lots of fancy dummies but they're more expensive (pic in the first comment). If they're painted, they're $1.10 each. Everything else is between 85c and $1 depending on how many you buy and how bad my maths is at the time and if I have a glass of bubbles in my hand.
I usually chuck in a few more if I've lost count rather than recount (welcome to Meg's business model brain). If you buy in large amounts for groups, it's cheaper. (Ask Carmie on the Sunshine Coast - she's my fave customer. I phone and offer her a good bulk deal and she accepts it and I throw handfuls of teats into a bag and into the post. She pays me almost immediately and she gets a bargain and I can do it all in 10 minutes).

If you're a stabiliser or a premmie carer, please let me know because I'm happy to fish out smaller teats and dummies for you.

I'm selling teats and dummies now YAY, BUT:
this new business FB/Meta page is a bastard to admin and I don't get notifications from it and I can't find messages on it. I hate it and I will close this page after the season and start a new Megabattieblue page without all the bells and whistles which are useless and distracting.

Since this is the season from hell in Sydney with babies raining from the sky (and powerlines), I'm quite time poor.
I have 2 buckets of teats made and will get started making more if there is need.

Basically unless we talk while I'm packing the parcel, it won't happen. Talking to me MAKES me do it and not put it off till tomorrow and the day after, ad infinitum. I am the Queen of Procrastination at the moment.

If you order for your group it's a lot easier for me to pack and post as one thing rather than a bunch of small orders all costing a fortune to post.
If you're happy to take a selection of teats, that's so much easier for me and it's MUCH cheaper for you. If I have to hand select colours and shapes I'm doubling the price.
Postage unfortunately, is $10 for a post satchel now, and the teats are too fat to fit in a small packet, so they either get stuck in the machines or they get returned to me as insufficient postage.

Although I am very late, I have started to make teats for this year. Today I mixed up the colours for the teats and within 2 weeks I will have about 500 teats for sale.
Sorry for the lateness and sorry for the drama but for various reasons I'm pretty insane at the moment, which includes me being the Queen of Procrastinitis.
My excuse for not making teats earlier was because there was mess on my teat making table and I couldn't be bothered moving it. Today I moved it (and I didn't die - amazing), and I mixed the colours which took about 90 minutes.
Tomorrow, when the bubbles in the latex have settled after all the mixing, I will start making about 45 teats per day.
I will post on my page when I have enough made for sale.

General hint - email me with your order (not yet, but in about 2 weeks after I post that I'm ready for sales), and if I tell you to phone me, I'm more likely to pack your parcel when I'm talking to you than I am if I have to pack it in the morning.
Work with me; my mental avoidance issues at the moment are genuine; I can't quite translate orders into action at this stage and will put it off. I don't mean to be unreliable but I'm just not managing my life all that well at the moment with various disparate demands on my time.

This is just a vague explanation for what I call my various pretty dummies.
Polkadotties: anything which is randomly polkadottie, because I could. (left 2 dummies in the pic)
Crown Jewels: second from right. Like a crown but with jewels.
Serendips: well these were a happy accident where I didn't dip them well enough so the colour from the lower dip showed through in a kind of triangle or ellipse and I decorated the scoop. I decided I liked them so much I chose to deliberately make them like this. I love happy accidents.

I started making some pretty dummies last season, but only a few and not for sale, however I finished up the end of the mixed up colour pots of latex and decorated a bunch of the dummies I hadn't sold, so:
Pretty dummies for sale:
The deal is that you don't get a choice of colour or style, you just pay your money and accept a packet (already packed).

I have 17 packets of 4 dummies, for sale for $10 including postage.
I have 4 packets of 9 dummies for sale, $20, including postage.
I can't fit more than 9 into the little packet without increasing the postage costs.
All packets include at least one crown dummy, usually 2. All are dummies that I would personally use for the younger pups, and all are quite soft.
There are a few slightly larger ones but they're so soft they will fit in the mouth of a newborn.

I probably won't be making pretty dummies during the season so it's buy now or never for the pretty ones.
