I've just released an obedience tutorial, check out the preview below.
A link to the full tutorial is in the description.

This is a step by step guide on how to develop reliable and enthusiastic obedience. It includes how I introduce pressure into training and use it as an activation and motivator, how and why I reward the way I do to achieve precision and reliability, how to use a prong collar, and more.

You get to see Frank and Fred go through the process and how they progress through each stage of training.

Over the weekend, I had the privilege of judging a GRC Dogsports Trial, involving a number of SRs and drive events, hosted by GRC Canberra.
Im very proud to announce the latest SR titles have been awarded to:
Courtney Irvine & Caelan (GRC Canberra)
Eleni Butler & Millie (GRC Canberra)
Lexi Souter & Joy (Prime Canine Sports Club)
Angelika Agata & Bob (Prime Canine Sports Club)
A massive congratulations goes to Angelika & Bob for receiving a high score of 98!
Thank you to everyone who got out there and gave it a go and I hope you're all proud of yourselves.

In addition to the SRs, two of those teams are well on their way to achieving their level 1 titles in some drive sports. Here are the results:
WP1
1st - Lexi & Joy @ 56kg
2nd - Courtney & Caelan @ 41kg

Both teams are close to pulling 2x body weight so as soon as they earn more points to their name, they'll easily be into level 2.

MR1
1st - Lexi & Joy
2nd - Courtney & Caelan

Once again, after earning some more points in a few more comps, these guys will be into the level 2s.

Huge congratulations to Lexi and Joy for taking the win in both drive events. You guys did great.

A big thanks to the GRC Canberra Club for hosting the events and helping the weekend run smoothly. And thank you to all your members who participated and got involved.

Im excited to be running more official drive events next year and watching the teams and sport progress.

Stay tuned for more events and titles next year!

Courage is not the absence of fear, its the willingness to act in spite of fear.
A sense of achievement and empowerment are the internal rewards gained from overcoming fear, and in turn, develops ones self confidence.

A slat mill is often seen as a piece of equipment for sporting dogs, athletic conditioning, high energy dogs or lazy people. These can all be true but it has so much more value deeper than that.
More often than not, I use the mill with fearful or reactive dogs to help develop their confidence; even for stable dogs, this is still useful. We work at their own pace and allow them the opportunity to learn how to relieve pressure through action, to discover they can control their actions and consequences, and that they can work through and overcome challenges they are faced. As a result, they develop an incredible sense of achievement which is empowering and increases their confidence.

This is the first session for each of these dogs and they have already come a long way in a short time, and yet, there is still so much more learning and development to unlock.

These members have progressed well through the drag program and will begin their track program in the coming weeks.
