Excellent news!!!
I wish our members and their families a wonderful summer and Happy New Year.
It's been great, hasn't it?
Matter of fact, I'm blown away by the progression of the WSGDCA in 2023.
Our 2023 National Championship had a record high number of competitors, our first SV breed survey and we made Channel7 News. The segment has so far clocked 63,000 views and shared around the world on social media.
We had for the first time a team represented at the WUSV World Championship. Congrats to all involved and to those behind the scene who helped with making this a reality. It was not easy in the light of DAFF introducing some new import requirements earlier this year. Next year - we know what needs to be done.
We had 24 trial events. That could very well be the highest number of trials in any given year during the existence of the WGSDCA. There was a total of 169 trial entrants across these trials. Just magnificent and 105 titles were awarded to dogs within our fraternity. A busy trial year meant our Admin of Records, Karyn Worth had a very very busy year keeping up with book orders and our Breed Warden, Clint Wehmeier, was busy issuing many ZAP-W certificates. Thank you both for your hard work.
We saw a significant increase in our Helper seminars. A big shout out to our clubs who keep fitting these in around their trials and training. A shout out to our teacher helpers who volunteer their time to further the WGSDCA Helper program.
It is self-evident from the above that the WGSDCA continues to grow as an organization. To all of you who train in a WGSDCA club and/or participated in a WGSDCA event during 2023: please join me in thanking the many who supported you: helpers, judges, WGSDCA office, your club, fellow WGSDCA members and respective families. You and your dog wouldn't be able to train and gain titles without the support of many.
To my fellow Board members: We have about 12 meetings per year and I truly appreciate the work and time you invest in the administrative part of the WGSDCA. Few have an idea about the amount of correspondence that we are dealing with during the course of the year.
What will 2024 bring? Who knows - but we all have a part in continuing the success of the organisation.
Keep the momentum going.
On behalf of the WGSDCA board of management, I wish our members and their families a wonderful summer and Happy New Year.
