I am beyond proud of this amazing young lady, she has put her mind to going on trail and had to push through some worries to be so confident today making the magic happen all the way around the whole arena. Sandy as always the greatest teacher not giving a free run all the time, its so super to watch the progression. A couple of things to tick off but this combination should be out on a first trail ride very soon.

A real game changer for me has been bringing stretch work into my training program, encouraging our horses to work strongly across their backs while developing strength, softness and balance.

Building strong backs and soft horses who choose to stretch because it feels good is the goal. I teach this to our 6 yr old students. It takes time to perfect, but there is something pretty special about when your horse starts to offer that stretch back to you after a good piece of work.

Dee is not our best stretch horse, but this afternoon she was really enjoying our long-rein flow around and over some poles just before 5.30pm. Watching her find that softness and relaxation was lovely.

This adorable combination are such a joy to have as part of our team here at McGahey Equestrian. ❤️

Thank you boys at Sommers Sawdust for our second load of softness for the arena. I am always looking to improve things here and with the summer coming we are making a nice soft kids arena space in the shade at the back of our area for term 4, this will predominantly be for our littlest and beginner riders. Will be more shade for mums and siblings coming into summer and close to our round pen for trotting balance exercises too.

A Very Special First Ride

12 months ago, this young lady started lessons with us. She began her journey on Sandy and, in that time, has quickly become such a strong but soft rider.

She is also a super helper here at McGahey Equestrian and, at just 12 years old, is wise beyond her years. Life has thrown a few curveballs her way, but she continues to take everything in her stride.

This was her very first ride on the big man, Zeb — and that is a lot of horse underneath you to organize!

I thought this was a super first ride. She handled him beautifully, and I’m so proud of how far she has come in just 12 months. ❤️🐴

Was all hands on deck on Sunday moving sawdust to make our surfaces softer for our horses. A bit of extra sawdust on order and our arena will be better than ever. Thank you to my amazing family helping out even in the rain! Steven McGahey the council creek side looks awesome now.

This cute little 7yr olds 4th lesson, she is super confident, super cute and learns super fast!! This was her first time feeling rise trot and keeping time even though Sandy had some other idea's. Really looking forward to seeing this little girl progress.
