At Possum Ridge Pet Cremations, we offer a friendly and caring service to help families during this time of loss. Every pet is different, and we know that each family’s grief will also be different. For this reason, we offer a customised pet cremation service for every individual pet and their families. We are available to come to your home, or nominated Veterinary Clinic, to safely transfer your beloved pet into our care. We can travel throughout the Cairns area, and extend from Port Douglas to Tully. Alternatively, you are welcome to bring your beloved pet on their last journey to us. Our office and Crematorium will be closed this Friday 18.07.2025, due to the show holiday. A staff member will remain on call for afterhours services. Due to weather conditions and the impact in the Townsville region, we will shortly be experiencing urn shortages/unavailability, and delays in receiving materials and resources we rely on, that are only available to us via transport from further South.
Please be reassured we will do everything we can to continue to care for your pets for cremation services under the approaching circumstances and will keep our page updated with any news or changes to our services.

*Christmas and New Years Closures/Hours*

Our Office and Crematorium in Mount Sheridan will be closed today Christmas Eve 24th Dec from 2pm and closed Christmas and Boxing Day 25th & 26th. We will re-open on Friday 27th between 8:30am - 4:30pm
We will also be closed on New Years Day Wednesday 1st.

A staff member will remain on call over these periods for Public Holiday After Hours Services and will be available from 5:00am - 10:00pm, should you require assistance following the passing of a pet at home. To request assistance please call 4036 0999 and leave a message. We will contact you back as soon as possible to help.

Please note, response to phone messages and emails received during this period will be attended to in order of urgency. Please be advised Staff do not have access to records outside of business hours and we will follow up such assistance as soon as we can once our usual office/crematorium hours resume. Thank you for your understanding.

*Wednesday 14th Aug - collection services unavailable*

Tomorrow Wed 14th our collection services will be unavailable as our vehicle undergoes necessary maintenance. We will be able to receive pets into our care at our office and crematorium here at Possum Ridge and will resume our collection services on Thursday 15th, otherwise your Veterinary Clinic can also be of assistance if required. Our office and crematorium will be closed this Friday 19th July.
During this time, we will have a staff member on call for public holiday afterhours services, should you require assistance following the passing of a pet at home. *Easter Weekend*

Our crematorium and office will be closed on and from Tomorrow Friday March 29th and will re-open again on Tuesday 2nd April for the Easter holiday weekend.

During this time we will have afterhours services available from 5:00am to 10:00pm. To request assistance following the passing of a pet, please call on 4036 0999 and leave a message which will divert to the staff on call.

Please be advised that our afterhours assistance may be frequently requested this weekend and there may be possible delays to the timeframe in which we can contact you back or be with you.

We are continually receiving a very high number of pets into our care here at Possum Ridge and the period of time we require pets to be with us for cremation services unfortunately must also extend. At this stage, for the duration of 2024, this will be a period of up to 3 weeks.

We ask families to please allow up to 3 weeks for cremation services for pets. This will allow us the time required to co-ordinate receiving them into the care of Possum Ridge, the scheduling of and performing of individual cremation, the finalising of ashes as per wishes, and arrangements for return home.

Due to the increase in requests for home collection services, short notice (same or prior day) home collection requests may be unavailable if they conflict with pre-booked commitments. In this event, families will be able to bring their pets on their final journey here to us at Possum Ridge, if required.

Please also be aware that the increase of pets with us will also periodically impact urn availability.

We thank you for your understanding and patience as we care for your furry, feathered and scaly family members. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions at this time.

*Update*

We are open today as per normal hours. However due to pre-booked appointments and the recent conditions we are now fully booked for home collections today Monday 18/12.

We also are receiving a high number of bookings for the remainder of the week before Christmas, and may be unavailable to assist with same day/ short notice home collection requests at this time.

Should you be in need of our services today, please call our office on 4036 0999. We are available at the office if you are able to transport your pet to us.
