Success Story Saturday
"Just thought I’d share an update on Indi - previously Inky. She is doing really well, very naughty, playful, and will eat literally anything. She’s just graduated puppy school and has started adolescence training, which she is doing so well.
She also loves her two big brothers and annoys them constantly!"

Lovely Peeka
This 2-year-old Bandog Mastiff is a gentle, goofy giant who loves cuddles, sunbaking, and showing off her tricks. She’s well-mannered indoors, eager to please, and happiest, being close to her humans. Peeka would thrive as the only dog in the home with a confident handler who understands big breeds. At 46kg, she’s a whole lot of love looking for her forever family.
Meet Maggie – the 6-month-old Staffy X who’s basically a wiggle butt on four legs! She’s sweet, cuddly, and full of beans, with a talent for turning every new dog or person into her best friend (after a few zoomies, of course). Maggie loves beach walks, car rides, and snuggling up after playtime. She’s still perfecting her leash manners, but one thing’s for sure – life with Maggie will never be boring!
Losing a dog can feel like losing a piece of your heart. They’re not “just a pet” – they’re family, a best friend, and a constant source of unconditional love.
Their absence can leave the house feeling quiet, routines disrupted, and simple moments suddenly heavy with grief. Many people describe the loss as a mix of heartbreak and emptiness, because dogs have a way of weaving themselves into our everyday lives in ways we don’t even notice until they’re gone. It’s completely normal to feel deep sadness, and even waves of guilt or loneliness, because the bond between humans and dogs is incredibly strong.
We have all had dogs that have touched us deeply, ones we will never forget.
Please share your pets' photos, ones who have passed over the rainbow bridge. Let's celebrate them together and share the love together.

Luna loves the beach. She is a good girl who hasn't had much socialisation in her life. She can be reactive around dogs, but with time and training, she could learn how to be around other dogs.
She hasent had a good start to life and was mostly ignored and left in a backyard. And now all she wants is love.
She also isn't a fan of cats, so she would be best suited to a house where she can be the only animal and receive lots of love.
Meet Flinder – a gorgeous 16-week-old Blue Heeler X who has travelled all the way from Mount Isa to Cairns in search of his forever family.
Flinder is a happy, affectionate boy who loves to play, explore, and be close to his people. With his bright eyes and gentle heart, he’s the kind of pup who will bring joy, love, and companionship to any home.
This little traveller is ready to settle into a family who can give him the care, training, and affection he deserves – and in return, he’ll give a lifetime of loyalty and love.

North Queensland Animal Rescue Inc. became an official incorporated entity on the 04/07/2012 Sparked by a group of dedicated animal lovers who were passionate about the problem of pet over population in their local area. They didn’t have a physical property to home animals, YAPS was over capacity and under resourced, they thought outside the box to come up with the idea of a foster carer based rescue service, after all they had been rescuing and taking in unwanted pets themselves for some time. Incorporating made it official and allowed them to begin working with local councils and pounds. With the assistance of the caring vets at Airport Vet offering a generous discount they were able to take in more pets and confidently offer foster carers pets that would have all their vetwork completed before being rehomed. Then came the sanction to fundraise, and the rest is history.
Since then, NQAR has become a DGR registered charity, meaning all cash donations received are tax deductible; Partnered with 4 paws on the inside, a program offerring the inmates at Lotus Glen Correctional Facility a chance to learn basic dog obedience skills; Rescued and re-homed over 1000 animals; Held training workshops and been a part of countless community events.
The group is still run by a small group of dedicated volunteer co-ordinators who manage all the administration from their own homes, whilst the wonderful foster carers take in the animals and love them as if they were their own.
2018 sees plans for more training workshops, hopefully working with one of the country’s most respected behaviourists, more obedience classes with Canine Training School and even more animals rescued, rehabilitated and rehomed.
