This is such a great radiograph to show the use of snaffle bits under rein pressure. Refer to the text (and below) for an explanation of each bit type and the head carriage that is taking place.

A = single jointed
B = double jointed
C = single jointed

You can see the direct effect of the bit on the tongue and bars in these xrays.
