It has been a disappointing decision to make but I have to announce that this year's One Dayer is cancelled. This is a decision made on a safety basis. As I'm sure you are all aware, the weather has, once again, turned against us. The BoM prediction is for it to further deteriorate tomorrow. I thank all of you for supporting this Black Dog Ride and hope that you will do so in future events. Black Dog Ride Australia has been notified and fully supports the decision. You will shortly receive an official email confirming the cancellation and explaining the refund process. Please alert any other prospective riders you may know of this decision.
The Sawblade Silent Auction will continue until 5:00Pm and I will announce the successful bid thereafter.
On a sadder note, for me anyway, I must also announce that I am stepping down as Coordinator for Black Dog Ride Cairns. I have absolutely enjoyed my time in this position and I'm sure that whoever takes over the role will find is just as rewarding as I have.
For those of you who have shared this time with me, I give you my whole hearted thanks for your friendship and support.
Cheers

The Sawblade Silent Auction bid has now risen to $320.00. Bidding closes at 5:00pm this afternoon.

As I’m sure you all know by now, the weather gremlins are haunting us again. Heavy rain falls and strong winds are affecting our coastal communities along the Queensland coast. To this end it will have a serious affect on our ride this Sunday. It is highly unlikely that we will be able to follow our planned route through the Cassowary Coast. I have come up with an alternative plan which would see us go west to get away from the bad weather. This route will take us through the Atherton Tableland with the final destination being Ravenshoe. A final decision will be made tomorrow and all registered riders will be notified by email.
Also the bid on the Sawblade Silent Auction has risen to $300.00. You have until tomorrow afternoon (5:00pm) to beat this bid.
Good Luck
And for all those who want to ride on Sunday, cross your fingers.
Cheers until the morrow.

I have checked registrations on 123Tix and at the moment, we have 27 riders and 3 pillions.
I hope you’ve been able to order your lunch from the Silkwood Hotel. Also if you know of any perspective riders or others that haven’t registrationed yet, please remind them that it is online registration only.
The bid for the 2025 One Dayer Sawblade Silent Auction reminds at $250.00. Hmmm so it’s still within my budget, best get in quick.
This celubrious trophy states emphatically that the owner is aware of depression and su***de prevention and that, more importantly, they care. Come on, let’s start bidding battle.

During my tenure as Cairns Black Dog Ride One Dayer Coordinator, I have had the privilege to have been able to work with many other local organisations and businesses in our effort to promote our cause. MacAlister Brewing, The Australian Armour and Artillery Museum, Bikecraft, AMX are some who have generously supported us. The Cairns West chapter of Rotary are a wonderful and hardworking group who voluntarily serve their community. Their support of our cause has been generous and consistent. Thanks to their chapter presently led by the incumbent president, Steve and past president, Col our BDR coffers have been substantially increased. This particular donation was generated from Ausarmourfest which was held last August. My sincere thanks to you all. You rock!

This time next week we will be getting to the end of our 2025 One Dayer. My how time flies.
For those already registered, have you put i your lunch order yet. Cassie,Paul and the crew awaiting your calls.
For those who haven't registered yet, time's a wasting.
Click on the links on the Black Dog Ride site and it will effortlessly take you to 123Tix. It's easy from there.
Our Ride Captain Ty and I have scouted the ride, identified the hazards and it is, on the whole, a lovely, safe ride.
Don't forget to gather as many of your friends as you can, to join us.
The Silent Auction is still in progress with the highest bid being $250.00. Come on, we can do better than that.
More tomorrow.
Cheers Clif

Yesterday I rode my Tiger from Herberton through Wondecla, Evelyn Central and Millia Millia to Innisfail, taking the Palmerston Highway. It was brilliant and reinforces why I ride. Flowing with the twists and turns Is meditative requiring me to focus wholly on the ride so I could get to my destination safely, relaxed and serene. And it’s excellent for my head space. Motorcyclists know this and get these benefits every time they pull on a helmet. I think this is why we are so effective within the Black Dog Ride community.
I’m looking forward to catching up with on the 16th which isn’t far off now.
