I have just now finished introducing Fancy to everyone’s pets in the comments on this post. I even got a couple of little meows from her, surely in agreement that everyone’s the cutest cat and dog ever and everyone has the best pawrents, and the best names. 😻😻🩷🩷

I know you all often do send me photos of your bebs - dogs, cats, birds, little pets, big pets… please share in the comments so we can see who is a part of our family here on our little corner of the internet! I want us to see each others pet stories 🩷🩷🩷

This Facebook Memory popped up just now. 10 years ago...

Bowie, the reason I started The Sweetest Meow. The first cat I adopted, the cat that made me a certified crazy cat lady.

I miss you Bowie, you did more for me and my journey into rescue than you ever knew.

Snuggled up, Fancy’s appetite was short lived but I’m staying hopeful. She’s had an okay night and definitely got some sleep. She’s been up briefly this morning but is having another sleep now. We’ll be back at the vet before lunchtime and will find out if she is on track or needs anything else to support her healing.

As I write this her little face has disappeared under the covers and I can just see one ear. She’s the cutest thing in the world, this cat.

We’ve had to upgrade her healing space to a crate, she was getting too inquisitive about escape pathways from the ensuite and I can’t risk further injuries. She hates it as expected, but I’m spending lots of time with her, out of the crate, supervised. 🩷

Sunday morning - Fancy keeping me worrying. We went to our other regular vet this morning as she just didn’t seem right. They’ve given her a couple of new medications, she got a check up and they’re not too too worried just yet but to keep a very close eye on her.

We’re back at our other vet tomorrow who looked after her on Thursday so we’ll have more of an update then.

I’m so grateful for everyone’s support, healing vibes, check ins, financial support - every single comment and thought for us is just the most amazing. Thank you for being so wonderful.

The bank account is at zero, the hopes are high for this little one and alllllll paws are crossed here, as I know they are across Australia and even in NZ and America. Blessed to have you all here 🩷🩷🩷

Fancy slept really well last night, after our vet visit and lots of snuggles. You know how I know that? Because I lay on the bathroom floor next to her all night. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜ and I’ll do again a million times over. But gosh I’m tired now! Fancy is napping again ā¤ļø I’m refuelling with some coffee.

I didn’t expect to end the day like this when I woke up this morning. The most unexpected happened today.

Fancy and one of the dogs were having a little play, like they often do, very well. Fancy’s claw got stuck in their fur and what ensued was a freak accident - Fancy freaked out trying to get her claw out, doggo thought she was doing a little more than playing and ran off, Fancy still trying to free herself from their fur. It was just a minute, but stress between them escalated and Fancy got hurt. It is no one’s fault but I feel guilty, very much so. My sweet Fancy is more fragile than we usually think and this was just the most horrible thing to happen. It caused damage to her back legs mostly.

Now? I feel like I’ve failed them, Fancy has a hell of healing journey ahead of her and the dogs don’t understand what all the upset is for.

I’ve included the X-rays taken and the invoice for anyone who is interested to have a little look what went into today and who likes looking at internal pictures. I got to see the old, long healed injuries of Fancy’s past and thankfully, no broken bones today, no internal bleeding. But still, it’s a scary time and she isn’t doing well, yet. I hope. ā¤ļø

**yes I’ve blocked the vets details as I know our little corner of the internet is safe, but I also know that some people on the internet aren’t kind and some have negative views toward vet costs. I don’t want any of that here with us or with the vet that put other things on hold today to save Fancy.

Fancy is home. She’s okay. But there’s a lot of healing and recovery to do and I’m not sure what it will look like and she’s not very happy at the moment my poor love. Thank you for all the love today and every day.

***third photo shows surgical prep staining and a little blood, a little shaved leg too. View with caution.

Update:

Fancy is in recovery and did really well. I’ll be picking her up tonight (that’s a few hours away still) and cannot wait to have her home.

Our beb, our Fancy. She’s at the vet at the moment after an accident this morning. I will know more soon, she is about to go under anaesthetic and I’m waiting by the phone and down the road from the vet ready to run back there the second they call.

She’s in the best hands. Our vets are incredible. With gold standard care comes big costs, I HATE to ask this. If anyone can spare a few dollars towards Fancy’s mounting bills, I’d be more grateful than you could ever know.

These are my personal bank details and every dollar goes direct to Fancy.

Account name: K WALKER
BSB: 923100

Thanks for always loving us, most of all please cross all of your paws for our collective cat, our Fancy.

Early this evening Sundae closed her eyes for the last time. I can’t even begin to explain how much of a light in my life this little smush face cat has been. I will be forever blessed that I was entrusted with her care for all the days she spent with me earthside.

Thank you L, for bringing her into my life. What an absolute character. So full of love and silliness - the perfect combo of things we all need more of in life.

Safe travels through this stormy night, Sundae. Off to join the others at the Rainbow Bridge. ā¤ļø
