I hear it all the time: “Oh, they’ll just grow out of it right?” ❌
➡️ Jumping on guests? That will become their normal way of greeting. 
➡️ Distracted on walks? If they don’t learn now, it won’t get better later.

Here’s the truth: Puppies don’t grow out of bad habits—they grow into them. What seems harmless now (like play biting or jumping) can turn into serious behaviour problems as they get older.

The good news? The earlier you start training, the easier it is to teach better habits! Focus on:
✅ Being consistent in your expectations and boundaries (This goes for everyone in the family!) 
✅ Reinforcing good behavior (Praise & reward what you WANT to see more of!)
✅ Setting them up for success (Management & training prevent bad habits.)

I often get asked “Why should I crate train my dog?”…

And although there’s a myriad of benefits of crate training, I think one that’s extremely overlooked is the ability to crate your dog in time of illness or injury. 🤕

If your dog is unwell, guaranteed it’s already an extremely stressful time for both you and them! And that’s without incorporating emergency crate training into the mix.

Although you may not want to utilise a crate on a day to day basis, giving your dog this skill may just save your sanity one day in the future! That’s why I always recommend you build this skill with your puppy, just in case! 💪🏼

Congratulations to our January Puppy Pre-School graduates! 🎓🐾

My first class for 2025 sure set the bar high! Such a nice big group with lots of different breeds and personalities too. 🌟

Meet Rupert 🧸

This gorgeous boy was like a living teddy bear! During our puppy set-up session we covered:
🐾 Setting them up for success within the home
🐾 The importance of early socialisation and exposure so he can continue being a great companion on the road with his family
🐾 A number of puppy obedience skills, including sit, drop, recall and how to begin place training

Plus they really had it all thrown at them over our 4 weeks together, thunderstorms, pouring rain, the works 😂 but they all handled it so well!

We have no further puppy classes scheduled until 2025, but private sessions are still available right up until Christmas. 🎄

Meet Queenie 👑

Yesterday I got to meet the adorable Queenie to work on some advanced puppy training and life skills. 🐾

We covered:
✅ Loose lead walking
✅ Engagement in distracting environments
✅ Socialisation and confidence building

For such a young pup, she already has a beautiful, calm demeanor with people. Very excited to see where her training journey takes her! ❤️

More happy faces from classes this morning! Such a great day for it ☀️

And a big thank you to Reegan at Rollys Dog Training for helping me out with classes this morning! I’ve been sick and without a voice all week, so it’s so nice to have other amazing local trainers to call in for backup when needed! 💕🐶 I think there will definitely need to be more collaborations in the future!
