🌾 Grass seeds! 🐾

With the warmer weather comes an increase in grass seed injuries particularly in dogs who love exploring the outdoors!

These pesky little seeds can easily become lodged in paws, ears, eyes and even under the skin, causing pain, irritation and infection.

Keep an eye out for signs such as:
🌾Excessive licking or chewing at paws
🌾Head shaking or scratching at ears
🌾Sudden limping
🌾Redness, swelling or discharge

Regularly checking your pet’s coat, paws and ears after walks can help catch grass seeds early.

A little behind the scenes look at our equine dentistry! 🦷

Routine dental procedures are an important part of your horse’s healthcare. A lot can change in a horse’s mouth in just 6–12 months, which is why we recommend regular dental checks to keep your horse happy and comfortable.

If you notice any of the following signs, it may be time for a dental check:

🐴 Dropping feed (balls of hay or hard feed)
🐴 Losing condition
🐴 Swelling or other abnormalities around the face
🐴 Bit resistance or discomfort when ridden
🐴 Nasal discharge

Did you know brushtail possums can be poisoned by rat bait?

Brushtail possums are curious, opportunistic feeders and may accidentally ingest rat bait while foraging around homes and gardens.

Rat bait can interfere with the blood’s ability to clot, leading to lifethreatening internal bleeding. Signs may not appear for several days, making exposure particularly dangerous.

The impact doesn’t stop there! Birds of prey, such as owls and eagles, can also be affected through secondary poisoning when they eat rodents that have consumed rat bait.

Even small amounts can be harmful, so always consider the wildlife that shares our backyards when using rodenticides🐾🌙

Felicia the Italian Greyhound was in with us recently for her dental procedure, and she arrived dressed for the occasion ❤️🤍

She looked far too cute in her red and white striped pyjamas, although we’re not quite sure whether she was more prepared for a dental procedure, Christmas, or a game of Where’s Wally?

Either way, she was definitely our most stylish patient of the day 🐾
