🐾 Get to Know the Breed: FRENCH BULLDOG 🐾

This week, we’re talking about the compact, charming, and utterly lovable French Bulldog.

With their signature bat ears, squishy faces, and easy going personalities, Frenchies have become one of the most popular companion dogs in the world. Originally bred in France as lap dogs for lace makers, they’re the perfect blend of playful and relaxed, a little clown, a little couch potato.

🧠 Quick Facts:
– Adaptable and well suited to apartment or city living
– Known for their affectionate, people loving nature
– Low exercise needs, but high snuggle needs
– Can be prone to heat sensitivity, so cooler playtimes are best
– Masters of “Frenchie talk” from grumbles to snorts, they have a sound for every mood

At daycare, Frenchies are the life of the lounge area. They love short bursts of play followed by long bouts of relaxation, ideally in the comfiest bed they can find (or someone’s lap). Their quirky personalities and comical expressions make them instant staff favourites.

🐾 Get to Know the Breed: DACHSHUND 🐾

This week, we’re celebrating the little dog with a big personality — the Dachshund!

Affectionately known as “sausage dogs” or “wiener dogs,” Dachshunds are famous for their long bodies, short legs, and huge hearts. Originally bred in Germany to hunt badgers (their name literally means “badger dog”), these brave little pups are packed with confidence, curiosity, and charm.

🧠 Quick Facts:
– Bold, clever, and a little bit stubborn (in the cutest way)
– Form strong bonds with their humans and love being close
– Great watchdogs, they’re alert and not afraid to speak up
– Need regular mental stimulation and play to stay happy
– Can be surprisingly athletic despite their tiny legs!

At daycare, Dachshunds bring the sass and the snuggles. They’re known for their hilarious antics, zoomies on short legs, and for being total cuddle bugs when it’s nap time. They may be small, but their personalities are anything but!

🐾 Get to Know the Breed: GOLDEN RETRIEVER 🐾

This week, we’re celebrating one of the most beloved and recognisable breeds in the world: the Golden Retriever.

Known for their gentle nature, eager to please attitude, and sunny disposition, Goldens are the ultimate allrounder. Originally bred in Scotland as gundogs for retrieving game (yes, that soft mouth had a purpose!), they’ve become one of the most popular family dogs and for good reason.

🧠 Quick Facts:
– Exceptionally friendly and social, they rarely meet a stranger
– Highly trainable and love having a job or task
– Gentle, patient, and great with kids and other dogs
– Need regular exercise and mental stimulation to avoid boredom
– Tend to carry toys around just for the joy of it (and to show them off)

At daycare, Goldens bring the good vibes. They’re often the social butterflies of the group, always down for a cuddle, a play session, or just happily trotting around with their tongue out and tail wagging.

🐾 Get to Know the Breed: BORDER COLLIE 🐾

This week, we’re spotlighting one of the most intelligent and driven dog breeds around: the Border Collie.

Originally bred on the border of England and Scotland (hence the name), Border Collies are working dogs through and through, known for their focus, energy, and incredible problem solving skills. These pups need a job to do, whether it’s herding sheep, learning tricks, or dominating at agility.

🧠 Quick Facts:
– Widely regarded as the most intelligent dog breed
– Extremely energetic, they thrive on physical and mental stimulation
– Known for their “eye” an intense stare used to control movement in herding
– Incredibly trainable but not ideal for low-activity homes
– Love structure, challenges, and being part of the action

At daycare, our Border Collies are often the first to master new enrichment activities and are always up for a challenge. They do best with consistent mental engagement and plenty of opportunities to burn off energy!

🐾 Get to Know the Breed: CHIHUAHUA 🐾

This week, we’re shining a light on one of the smallest yet most spirited members of the canine world: the Chihuahua.

Don’t let their size fool you. These tiny dogs are full of character, intelligence, and loyalty. Originally from Mexico, Chihuahuas were considered sacred by the Aztecs and were believed to have spiritual significance, perhaps explaining their deep bond with their humans today.

🧠 Quick Facts:
– World’s smallest dog breed, but with a giant personality
– Known for forming strong, loyal attachments to their favourite person
– Tend to be vocal and alert, making them excellent little watchdogs
– Thrive with gentle guidance and plenty of socialisation
– Often love to burrow under blankets , it’s their comfort zone!

At daycare, we love welcoming Chihuahuas into the mix. With the right support, these clever pups can absolutely thrive in a social setting and often surprise us with how much confidence they pack into such a tiny frame.

🐾 Assistant Manager & Groomer (Part-Time)

We’re seeking a reliable, experienced Assistant Manager who is also a qualified groomer.

What You’ll Be Doing:
• Leading and supporting our team throughout the day
• Assisting with scheduling, staff training, and daily operations
• Handling customer service and communication
• Providing grooming services: full grooms, bath & tidy, nail trims, and more
• Maintaining high standards of safety, hygiene, and care

What We’re Looking For:
• Professional dog grooming experience is essential
• Previous leadership or management experience
• Calm, confident handling of all dog breeds and temperaments
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• A hands-on team player who loves dogs and delivers top tier care

🐶 Casual Dog Daycare Attendant

We’re also hiring casual team members to help keep our daycare dogs happy, healthy, and entertained!

Daycare Duties:
• Help with opening and closing procedures
• Create a clean, fun, and safe environment
• Monitor dog behaviour and interactions
• Communicate with pet parents and provide updates
• Assist with social media content and daily cuteness capture

Basic Grooming Duties:
• Bath & tidy services (brushing, nail trims, hygiene trims)
• Maintain a clean grooming area
• Communicate clearly with clients about grooming needs

What We’re Looking For:
• A love for dogs and a positive attitude
• Experience working with dogs (daycare, grooming, kennel, vet, etc.) preferred
• Basic grooming experience is a bonus, training provided
• Friendly, reliable, and team-oriented
• Ability to work flexible hours Monday to Friday between 6:30am–6pm

Goodbye & Good Luck, Tayla! 💛🐾

After nearly 5 years of wrangling zoomies, calming chaos, and loving every pup like her own, our amazing Tayla is off on her next adventure and what a journey it’s been!

From daycare days to management moves, Tayla has been an absolute rock for Gold Coast Doggy Daycare. Her calm nature, quick wit, and sixth sense for when a dog is definitely about to p*e where it shouldn’t, will be seriously missed by the team, our amazing paw parents and definitely the dogs.

Tayla thank you for being such a huge part of the GCDDC family. You’ve helped shape this place and leave behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a mysteriously never ending supply of lint rollers.

We wish you nothing but joy, coffee that stays hot, and a toddler who occasionally naps 😅❤️

🌸 Last Chance to Say Goodbye to Tayla 🌸

As most of you already know, but just a reminder Tayla’s last days with us are this Monday and Tuesday, 8:30am to 5pm 💛

If you’d like your pup to see her one last time, now’s your chance to book in! Whether it’s one more cuddle, a quick tail wag, or just being part of her final day at daycare, we’d love to help make it special.
