From comforting nervous patients and monitoring anaesthesia, to assisting with surgery, providing critical care, educating pet owners and supporting our vets — veterinary nurses do it all. 🩺🐶🐱

Their compassion, skill, dedication and love for animals make an enormous difference every single day.

⚠️ PARVOVIRUS ALERT – BUNBURY ⚠️

We are currently seeing cases of canine parvovirus in the Bunbury area and ask dog owners to please take extra precautions.

🐶 If your dog is experiencing vomiting or diarrhoea, particularly if they are unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated, please DO NOT bring them directly into the clinic.

Instead, please call us on arrival and remain in your car. Our team can assess your dog outside and perform a parvovirus test where appropriate before they enter the hospital.

This helps us minimise environmental contamination and protect our hospitalised patients, puppies, elderly dogs and immunocompromised patients from exposure.

💉 Please check that your dog’s vaccinations are up to date. Vaccination is the most effective way to protect dogs against parvovirus, which can cause severe and potentially life-threatening illness.

If you are unsure whether your dog is adequately vaccinated, please contact the clinic and our team can check their vaccination history or arrange an appointment.

🐍⚠️ Snake Bite Season Awareness ⚠️🐍

As the weather warms up, snakes become more active — which means it’s important to stay vigilant and keep pets safe during snake season. ️

Curious pets, especially dogs, are at risk of encountering snakes while exploring backyards, parks, bushland, or walking trails.

🚨 Signs of a possible snake bite can include:
• Sudden weakness or collapse
• Shaking or muscle tremors
• Dilated pupils
• Vomiting
• Difficulty breathing
• Paralysis or wobbliness
• Bleeding from the bite site (sometimes not visible)

Snake bites are a medical emergency and can become life-threatening very quickly.

If you suspect your pet has been bitten:
✔️ Stay calm and keep your pet as still as possible
✔️ Carry them if safe to do so
✔️ Seek veterinary attention immediately
❌ Do not try to catch or kill the snake
❌ Do not apply a tourniquet

Ways to help reduce the risk at home:
✔️ Keep grass and gardens tidy
✔️ Remove piles of wood, rocks, or debris
✔️ Keep pets supervised outdoors where possible
✔️ Avoid long grass and bushland during peak snake activity
