Hi everyone,
I just wanted to keep you up to date with our ongoing interactions with the science behind what we do here at SOS Dogs.
I take my ongoing professional development very seriously and I genuinely believe this is a key factor that sets us apart as quality dog behaviourists.
Im thrilled to have completed my latest course specialising in Dog Cognition and Emotion run by Dr Brian Hare.
Dr Hare is the co-founder of The Duke Canine Cognition Centre, which was the first of its kind in the United States.
This course was so interesting for me personally, but also enabled me to continue to provide my clients the most up to date information and research on leading dog behavioural techniques.
Like much in life, it is a field that is constantly evolving, so it is my personal mission to keep pace with the world's best.
My professor, Dr. Hare is a specialist in Evolutionary Anthropology, Psychology, and Neuroscience.
I'll post a few interesting snippets over the next few weeks and months, but to kick things off here is an interesting fact that the research has proven….
*Mothers and their offspring can remember each other after long periods of time apart. Even when separated at 8 weeks of age, Its been proven they recognise each other via sight and scent when reunited more than 2 years apart.
Interestingly, siblings don't have the same recognition under similar conditions😮
Stay tuned for more interesting science down the track!
