A Day of Learning, Growth & Grooming ✂️🐾

Today I had the pleasure of spending the day with Reuben during a private 1:1 grooming workshop.

These days aren’t about how many dogs we can groom—they’re about slowing down, asking questions, understanding the why behind every decision, and building skills that can be taken back into the salon every single day.

We covered everything from coat assessment, product selection and preparation through to handling, clipper work, sc******ng, shape and creating a polished finish.

One of my favourite parts of teaching is watching those lightbulb moments happen. 💡 Every question asked, every technique refined, and every challenge worked through is another step towards becoming a more confident groomer.

Thank you, Reuben, for trusting me with your learning journey. Your willingness to learn, ask questions and challenge yourself will take you a long way. Keep practising, keep observing, and remember… progress is built one groom at a time. 🐶💙

POV: You spent months growing the perfect bubble butt… just to shave it off 😂✂️🍑

But we’ve got a new plan for Lola 👀✨ After competing with her at The Pup Cup, I realised exactly what we need to work on next — so the bubble is officially GONE and we’re growing those legs out for more Asian Fusion practice! 🐾✂️

Sometimes you’ve gotta let go of one cute style to make way for the next one 😂

🌀 Spiral dreams 🌀

So proud of what I achieved with this creative spiral design! 🤍✂️

I wanted to play with shape, movement and dimension, carving the coat to create this continuous spiral flowing around the body. Watching the design come to life as I refined each curve was SO satisfying. 😍

Creative grooming doesn’t always have to mean colour — sometimes the coat itself becomes the artwork. 🎨✂️

Definitely a design I’m proud of, and I can’t wait to keep experimenting with more 3D coat carving and structural designs like this! 🌀✨

🎀 LOLA 🎀

No ribbon this time, but gosh am I so proud of Lola and myself for giving this class everything we had! 🥹✨

Lola was the only Shih Tzu in the ring, competing in a higher-level Asian Fusion class amongst some incredible groomers and dogs. Taking her from her before coat into this finished Asian Fusion style within competition time 1hr 30mins was definitely a challenge — but one I’m so glad we took on. ✂️🎀

We may not have placed, but competitions are about so much more than ribbons. I walked away with valuable professional feedback, a clearer vision of what I want to improve, and even more motivation for the next one. 💪🏽

Lola is still learning and gaining confidence with the competition grooming process, and I’m incredibly proud of what we achieved together. Every competition is another opportunity to learn, grow and come back stronger. 💕

And can we appreciate that little face, those beautiful long legs and her rainbow tail?! 🌈😭🎀
