Yesterday’s Pet of the Day was Bonnie, who visited us for a dental scale and polish.

This little cutie is 3y 5m old and a Wire-Haired Fox Terrier, a special breed we don’t get to see very often!
Bonnie has a gorgeous wiry coat and a sweet little face that brought a smile to everyone’s day, including Dr Nicole’s! 🥰

We loved having this lovely girl visit us and getting to give her some extra cuddles and attention ❤️

Meet our Pet of the Day, the fun little Kobe!
Kobe visited us today for his arthritis and itchy skin injections.
Kobe receives regular injections as part of the management plan for his allergic skin disease, alongside consistent topical treatments that his owners are extremely fantastic and diligent at keeping up with!
The difference a personalised treatment plan makes for allergy patients is incredible!
The room always lights up when Kobe walks through the door! He’s a chatty little guy who certainly knows how to make his presence known! 🤭💙

George the 8 month old cocker spaniel visited us today for his desexing procedure. He was such a sweetie pie and even got to sit with the nurses while they had their meeting today.
He was a super cute puppy when we first started seeing him earlier this year, and has really grown into such a handsome boy! 💙

Meet our Pet of the Day, the darling Nala!
Nala visited us today for some X-rays and was such a sweet, patient girl throughout the day!

She’s been coming to see us for over 6 years now, all the way back to when she was just a tiny 8 week old puppy! It’s so special getting to watch our patients grow up over the years and be part of their lives along the way. 💕

What is "skin cytology" and how does it work?
If your pet is itchy, skin cytology is a simple test that helps us see what’s happening on the skin.
A small sample is taken from the affected area using something as simple as a swab, clear tape or a microscope slide pressed onto the skin. The sample is then stained and examined under a microscope.
We look for things such as:
🔬 Yeast (Malassezia) – commonly found on itchy, greasy or smelly skin
🔬 Bacteria – which can contribute to skin infections
🔬 Inflammatory cells – which can show that the skin is reacting to something
The prepared slide can also be digitally scanned and analysed, allowing the cells and organisms present to be identified and assessed.
So rather than simply saying "your pet is itchy", cytology helps us answer "what is happening on the skin right now?"
This gives our vets more information about what may be contributing to your pet’s itch and helps us choose the most appropriate treatment.
Don’t forget, throughout October we’re offering FREE in-house skin cytology to help ditch your pet’s itch!
Call 3353 6999 to book. Consult fee applies.

Meet Flossy, the darling 6 month old Cavalier who visited us today for her spay procedure!

Flossy has something extra special about her, she has a Thermochip! This clever microchip not only identifies her but also allows us to check her temperature when we scan it. How cool is that!

Wishing you a speedy recovery, sweet Flossy 🌸

🐾 Pet of the Day – Little Tilly! 💕

Little Tilly came in for an ultrasound today. 🩷 She wasn’t quite sure why she had to stay with us all day, so we made sure she received heaps of cuddles and love until her mums arrived to pick her up! 🥰

We absolutely love it when this sweet girl comes to visit us! 🐶💕

Today we celebrate our amazing vet nursing team - the true unsung heroes of our veterinary clinic. 💙

They are the soft voice your pets wake up to after surgery, the warm arms that comfort them when they’re worried, the artists behind the wonderful bandage art and paper bag art, the lunchtime buddies for anxious patients, and the reassuring presence that helps every pet feel safe, loved and cared for while they’re away from home.

And, of course, they do all the less glamorous jobs too like keeping the practice spotless, safe and warm, preparing equipment, monitoring patients, supporting our vets and making sure every pet receives the very best care possible.

So today, we want to say a HUGE thank you to our incredible nurses and vet techs.

Your compassion, skill, patience, humour and dedication make such a difference to our patients, their families and our entire team.
We simply couldn’t do what we do without you!

Happy Vet Nurse & Vet Tech Day to our absolute superstars (those pictured, and not pictured)! 💙💙💙
