Sorry we have been offline this is why....

Shimmy developed Diabetes about 10 days ago and became very unwell saturday afternoon. It progressed very quickly (she went into DKA) and I have been stayin up all night since then monitoring her and treating her with insulin and other medication. Unfortunately this was one time that persistance did not pay off and it was kinder to let her go.

Shimmy was my everything and I am absolutely heart broken and it may take me a little time to get back to business. So please be patient with me.

I got Shimmy as a rescue at 17 weeks of age from the RSPCA. She was incredibly anxious. Still to this day one of the most anxious dogs I have ever met. She inspired me to become a dog trainer and it's how and why Fur Get Me Not exists. She grew into a happy family dog and helped and inspired so many. She was often a demo dog, play mate, dog walking buddy or the star in my training videos. The photo below is from many years ago (about 8 years I think) when she was an adolescent goof ball. At the time I created "Words of Shimmy" silly motivational quotes that reflected her personality.

Weekly Tips & Tricks | Barking in the home

One of the most common things people struggle in the home with their dog is barking and barking at people and/or dogs going past their property.

Here are my top tips:
- Restrict time in the yard or area that they do this behaviour. Dog walking hour should be inside time.
- Make sure you meet their physical and mental stimulation needs.
- Do not punish them or use any collars aimed at “stopping” the behaviour. It might “work” in the short term but will likely increase anxiety and aggression.
- Put up visual barriers to block being triggered.
