I love reading stories like this showing PUFF as helped horses not only stop getting sunburnt but also helped heal them when nothing else was working for them.
Thanks for sharing her journey with me Rhiannon. Im so happy Brooke is doing so much better.
Brooks story by owner Rhiannon Sutherland
My beautiful Anglo mare, had a reaction to st John's wart in a paddock on an agistment property. The st John's wart carried a bacteria, a fungus and a virus.
She was one of 3 horses out of 5 in the paddock that got this and was my only one that got it, both my other 2 with white socks had no reaction.
This has taken 12 months, we nearly lost brook. She ended up with it all over her face and lips. This was spreading if it got wet, hot, and was light reactive, the serious problems came when she then got cellulitis in the legs and then abcesses would burst out of the feet.. This kept happening every few weeks, it was a vicious cycle,
These reactions would come up over night first as boils then the hair would turn scabby, then they would explode with puss and smelling liquid would ooz out.
The vets couldn't help, they tested, they tried everything and nothing was working. Puff Equine UV Powder saved brooks life. I was able to with the help of Kerri Hill to mix it to a paste and cover her legs in it to keep the sun off, deflect water and mud and sooth her legs. Here are some before and after of her poor legs. They finally nearly have all there hair back.. she is now unbooted and has her puff put on as needed.
The other two horses had it spread on black skin over the backs of their legs over their rumps and it really took its toll on them to and they are also still recovering with there owners working on them to..
