Excited for today's Taxidermy workshop! We"ve got a couple of young learners joining the class today, including my own daughter who is 7 and was inspired to give it a go by a 9 year old at the National Championships who won an award in the juniors division! Let's see how this pans out... 😜

Well… turns out my organisational system is still not in check because I somehow convinced myself this workshop was fully booked when it absolutely is not 🤦‍♀️

SO I’ve actually got a few spots available in my 30–31 May Bunny Taxidermy Workshop in Brisbane.

If you’ve been wanting to learn taxidermy, this is a beginner-friendly two day workshop where you’ll learn how to skin, prep, mount and pose your own rabbit to take home.

🐇 No experience needed

🐇 All materials supplied

🐇 Small class sizes

🐇 Brisbane | 30–31 May

I’ve recently returned from the national taxidermy championships where I was awarded Best Non-Game Bird and progressed into Masters division, and I’m really excited to keep expanding the workshop and teaching side of my business this year and helping more people learn this strange and fascinating art form.

DM me for info or booking details 🙂

Still trying to process last week 🖤
At the Australian National Taxidermy Championships I was awarded Best Bird in Show and progressed into the Masters Division — something that honestly feels a little surreal to say out loud.

This bird survived damage in transit, airport chaos, self doubt, and many long hours at the workbench before finally making it onto the competition table 😅

Feeling incredibly grateful, inspired, and very lucky to be part of such a talented community of artists.

I’ve come home with a renewed fire for creating and teaching, and I still have a few places available in my upcoming Rat Taxidermy Workshop on 16 May for anyone wanting to learn the foundations of small mammal taxidermy in a beginner-friendly environment 🐀

My next Introduction to Taxidermy: Rat Workshop is coming up this May 🐀

This is a hands-on beginner workshop where I’ll guide you through the full process of creating your own small mammal mount — from start to finish. No experience needed, just a willingness to give it a go.

I keep these workshops small so everyone gets proper support, and you’ll walk away with a finished piece (and a solid foundation to keep going at home).

If you’ve been curious about taxidermy but didn’t know where to start, this is it.

I’m not the best at posting regularly, but I’m still here! Most of my time goes into commissions - mainly pet bird preservation, the occasional restoration and running training workshops every couple of months. I’m planning (hoping) to get better at sharing what I’m working on this year… It was my New Year’s resolution last year, too, so we’ll see if I can beat my record of 7 posts 🤦

Anyway - about time I shared some photos of this Australian Boobook owl. It was a commission I completed in 2024 under a QLD Dealers Licence. It was commissioned by a friend and fellow bird lover who recently sent me these photos of the finished piece which are too good not to share.

Boobooks (Ninox boobook) are the smallest owl on the Australian mainland - usually around 30cm long. They’re nocturnal, sharp little hunters, and have a kind of alert stillness that’s hard to describe until you’ve seen one up close.

Native birds like this are a rare privilege to work on. Most of the enquiries I get are from people who’ve found birds after accidents - roadkill, window strikes, etc.  In those cases I’m unable to help - in Queensland, taxidermy of native wildlife is only legal if the specimen was held under the right permits during its life, and transferred to a Dealer’s Licence after death.

✨ Spring-Summer Workshop Dates ✨

I've quietly opened bookings for a fresh run of taxidermy workshops this September through December including rats, birds, and (always popular) bunnies.

If you've been waiting for a chance to get hands-on, now's the time - spots are limited, and I don’t always post workshops publicly when they fill by word of mouth.

📩 Want to be the first to know when new dates drop? Make sure you're on my mailing list - it's where I announce workshops before anywhere else. (Drop me a message if you need it.)

🗓 Upcoming dates:

• 13 Sept – Rat (1 spot left)
• 20–21 Sept – 2-Day Bunny
• 18–19 Oct – 2-Day Bird
• 15–16 Nov – 2-Day Bunny
• 22 Nov – Rat
• 6–7 Dec – 2-Day Bunny
• 13 Dec – Rat

Workshops are open to all skill levels - curious beginners very welcome. Come spend a day (or weekend) learning, making, and meeting other wonderfully odd creatures (and people).
