This week we were invited to share our work at Rotary Club of Wynnum & Manly. Thank you so much for having us and allowing us to share the work we do here at HEART - Brisbane, and generous offers of support! We have some very special people in our community and we were amongst the best of them at Rotary on Wednesday.

2025 Flood up date: Well here we are again, just 3 years on from the 2022 flood, and we did not expect it to come around again so soon. We learnt a lot from 2022, and we planned accordingly, but also having to take in account the extra risk from a cyclone. So, with this in mind along with a deep understanding of the land on which we occupy and knowing our animals well we have come out the other side really well. With the help of volunteers taking some of our herd, our land lord granting access to higher ground and our participant families taking on the smaller animals we could not be more grateful for the support. Our herd and pigs are doing well, in good health, and we will continue to care for them daily as we prepare for the big clean up, and our return-to-work plan once the water goes down and the sun comes out! Shout out to some of our equine friends who we know have horses standing in ankle deep water, and others who have been cut off from their herds all together we feel you and know you will pull through too. Ours horses are more resilient than we give them credit for.
Pics are from Monday 10th March, horses digging in and getting through, and pigs getting all the love we can give them.
We are looking forward to getting back to do doing what we do best!

Throw back to February 2022. When our grounds flooded and we waded through waist high water to save all the horses. The local community rallied around us and arrived at the end of the street with floats and coffee and pies! It was a long long day! As we brace for bad weather off the back the current cyclone, we are all hoping and praying this does not happen again!

Today our hearts are broken as we say goodbye to our most beloved Dash 💔The biggest gentle giant you would ever meet. Heart of gold, and rump made for scratching! How he loved a scratch! We wrap our love and hugs around his family as we all shed tears. But our minds are full of happy times and good memories, remembering all the times we have spent together and our lives richer for having him in it! Vale Dash. 💖
