"100% Complete & Balanced" sounds like the ultimate seal of approval. It's doing a LOT of heavy lifting on that packet. ๐Ÿ‘€
Here's what it actually means. It's confirming the food hits the legal minimum nutrient requirements. That's it. It is a pass mark, not a gold star.

And here's the catch. A food made from the cheapest legal ingredients can carry that exact same badge as a food made from quality, named, whole ingredients. On the front of the pack, they look like equals. In the bowl, they're worlds apart.
So "meets the standard" is not the same as "good for your dog." One is a legal box ticked. The other is what actually shows up in their energy, their coat, their gut, and how they age.

The badge can't tell you which one you're holding. Only the ingredient list can. Flip it over, read what's actually in there, and judge the food on that, not on the stamp on the front. ๐Ÿพ

Did you think "complete and balanced" meant more than it does? Most of us did ๐Ÿ‘‡
(To be clear, we're not saying complete and balanced foods are bad. We're saying the badge alone doesn't tell you if it's quality. Two foods can both carry it and be completely different.)

If your older dog has gotten slower, stiffer, or a bit more "can't be bothered" now that it's cold, please don't write it off as them just getting lazy. Winter is doing something to their joints. โ„๏ธ

Here's what's actually happening. Cold weather thickens the fluid that cushions their joints and tightens the muscles around them. So everything that used to be easy, getting up, doing the stairs, hopping in the car, quietly gets harder and a little bit sorer.

And here's the part that catches people out. Dogs are hardwired to hide pain. They won't limp until it's genuinely bad, so "slowing down" is very often discomfort you simply can't see yet. By the time it's obvious, it's usually been going on a while.

The good news is this is one of the easiest things to get ahead of. Supporting the joints before the cold really sets in helps keep your old mate moving, comfortable, and doing the things they love for longer.

Please note, sudden limping, yelping, or a big drop in movement is a vet visit, not a supplement. This is about steady, everyday support for the normal stiffness that winter brings.

How old is your senior, and have you noticed them slowing down this winter? ๐Ÿ‘‡

Nobody was ever going to see this decision. We made it anyway. ๐Ÿค

A while back a supplier offered us a cheaper deal. All we had to do was swap one of our actives for a lower grade version of the same thing. On paper it looked great. Better margin, same looking label, and honestly, most customers would never have known the difference.
But we would have. And more importantly, your pets would have. A lower grade active means a weaker result, and a weaker result means the thing you bought to actually help your dog quietly stops pulling its weight.
So we said no. Quietly. And we wore the cost.

That's the part of this brand you don't see on the shelf. Every formula is the version we'd give our own dogs, not the version that makes us the most money. It's slower, it's harder, and it's more expensive to run a business this way.
But that's the whole point. That's the difference you're paying for. ๐Ÿพ

This is the stuff we don't usually talk about, so tell us honestly, does knowing this change how you see a brand? ๐Ÿ‘‡
