We did an interview with the Colac Herald a few days ago and it was published yesterday.

It has been unusually quiet and trading conditions for not just us but many small businesses has been challenging.

Small business is the backbone of rural communities. Like other local businesses we have always allocated a percentage of our turnover to support local clubs, groups and associations in our local community and that will continue.

If you require boarding for Easter and the upcoming school holidays, we still have availability. Give us a call on 03 5236 2115 7 days a week.

We were delighted to be contacted by ABC Radio TWICE today to talk about our response to the fires in the Otways. The first interview was on ABC Ballarat mornings, then on ABC Melbourne evenings.

It was lovely chatting to Steve and David.

A HUGE THANK to the ABC Australia for your interest.

Good morning,

Just a quick update from Hillview Farm Cattery.

The temperature has come down significantly overnight which has enable us to switch off the air-conditioners for a while and open up the doors and windows so we can get some fresh air circulating inside. We have also now opened up access for all the cats in the Cattery to their outside areas so it should make things a bit more comfortable for them as well.

I just wanted to say thank you to all of those people that offered us various types of support such as food, transport or help in the Cattery. I’ve tried to go back to as many people as I can to thank them for their very very kind and generous offers but if I’ve missed anyone, Daryl & I really do appreciate your very kind gestures.
It just goes to show what a wonderful community we live in.

We are continuing to provide emergency cat boarding for people that have been evacuated at no charge until such time as it is safe for them to return to their homes.

Currenly we have 33 cats with us for emergency boarding but we still have a few suites available if anyone is still looking for emergency care. In this regard please give me a call on 0417056115 so we can
organise something for you.

Many thanks,

Hi, it’s Jayne here from Hillview Cattery in Birregurra.

We are getting a lot of calls in relation to the bushfire emergency in the Otways and what is happening at the Cattery.

Firstly, our location is currently outside of the watch and act warnings that have been issued. Based on advice we have received we are confident that we will not be directly impacted by the fires.

Notwithstanding this, we have implemented our emergency plan just in case the situation changes.

We have we have also once again
opened up the cattery for emergency boarding for residents who have been evacuated from their homes. At the moment we have taken in around 30 cats for emergency boarding. This service is provided at no charge until residents can safely return to their homes.

If you know of anyone that may require our services, please encourage them to give us a call so that we can discuss what we are able to do for them. All of our multi cat suites are now occupied however we still have a few singles if required.

As part of our emergency plan, and given the extreme heat today, we have blocked off access to the outside section of all suites. We do this to firstly ensure that the cats remain in a nice cool 21° Cattery, but also in the unlikely event of us needing to evacuate we can quickly get access to the cats and place them in their carriers. We also placed the carriers in the front of each suite for quick access. Our emergency evacuation point would be the showgrounds in Colac where we would meet up with the relevant council officers. Again, we do not expect that we will be required to evacuate however out of an abundance of caution we are prepared.

If anyone has any concerns or queries we would urge you to call us on 0417 056 115 .

It’s Jayne here. We can reconfigure the cattery to accommodate around an extra 25 cats. If you have a cat/s and been evacuated or know someone who has, we can provide emergency boarding until the threat is over. There is no charge but we can only take cats. If you can bring food that would be helpful, but if not don’t worry. For further information call us at any time on 0417 056 115
