Travelling home from Theodore this morning, not far from Biloela, I came across a roo that had been hit and had died on the side of the road. I caught a glimpse of a little pink thing - it took me a few moments to realise that it must have been a joey, and fully expected it would not have survived. I drove back and parked off the side of the road and started to walk back to check the kangaroo and her joey when I saw the little pink thing moving! I grabbed a shirt from my car and carefully picked him up and drove the rest of the way to Biloela with him snuggled into my chest, hoping that there'd be someone in town who could take him and care for him.

He spent a few hours with Dr Sandy, however his best chance at surviving was with Bush Baby Wildlife Rescue Inc, so I picked him back up and made the trip over to Moura with this tiny little man.

What a day - I'm hoping the little guy has a big enough fighting spirit to get through this - and I'm thankful that there's a facility for precious babies like this nearby. He's in good hands, I just hope he's a fighter!
