🦷 Dental Season is here! 🐾
Every year, Bilgola Vet Clinic runs a Dental Season to help raise awareness of the importance of pet dental health.
Did you know that by 3 years of age, approximately 80% of dogs and 70% of cats will have some stage of periodontal disease?

Dental disease doesn't just affect the mouth—it can also impact your pet's overall health, placing additional strain on the kidneys, liver and heart.

During June, July and August, we're offering a ⭐️20% discount⭐️ on dental scale and polish procedures!

A healthy mouth is an important part of your pet's wellbeing. 🐶🐱

Frankie, the 12-year-old Jug, was recently admitted to hospital for a cystotomy with Dr Lily after prescription dissolution diets were unsuccessful in shrinking or reducing his urinary stones.

3 spiky bladder stones were successfully removed and submitted to the Minnesota Urolith Center for analysis.

As suspected, the results confirmed calcium oxalate stones, which unfortunately cannot be dissolved medically and require surgical or procedural intervention.
We’re very pleased to report that Frankie has made a full recovery and is back to feeling much more comfortable.

Thank you for being such a lovely patient Frankie, we are so grateful for your swift recovery💙

Little Sadie 🐾This sweet 3-month-old Domestic Short Hair kitten visited the clinic for her final kitten vaccination today.
Her devoted owner has been hand-raising her since she was just 1 month old after Sadie and her siblings were found abandoned in a cardboard box.
We’re so thrilled to see her growing, thriving, and living the life she deserves in such a loving fur-ever home 💕

‘Snickers’ the Lop rabbit recently visited us for his desexing procedure 🐰

We’re so pleased with how well he’s recovering and how quickly he has bounced back after surgery.
Rabbits can have more complex anaesthetics and may experience reduced appetite post-op, which can lead to complications due to their sensitive gastrointestinal system.

We’re incredibly lucky to have Dr Yen on our team, who previously owned an exotics Vet clinic and brings a wealth of exotic pet experience to our patients’ care 🐾

Lovely ‘Toby’ the Cocker Spaniel was admitted into hospital for removal of a mass after it began to grow rapidly

Dr Yen successfully performed a complete surgical excision of the mass, which weighed an impressive 650 g, and it was submitted for histopathology.
Our recommendation is always to submit any mass to a pathologist to assess the margins and determine whether it is benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous).
Fortunately, Toby’s mass was identified as benign, and surgical excision is considered curative.

If you ever notice a new lump or bump on your pet, it’s always best to have it checked by your Veterinarian.
Early assessment and sampling with continuous monitoring ensures the safest outcome 🐾

‘Buster’ the very handsome 6-year-old Maine C**n, came into the clinic for a medical groom.
As a very fluffy, long-haired breed, Buster had developed some very tight matts in a few sensitive areas.

To keep him safe and comfortable, he was placed under mild sedation while our team closely monitored him and carefully removed all the matts without the risk of cutting his skin.
Buster left the clinic in style—feeling lighter, happier, and much more comfortable 🐱✨

🐱Winslow, a 14-week-old Tonkinese, came into the clinic with inappetance and some mild gastrointestinal upset. When initial treatment didn’t help and symptoms became more severe, further diagnostics revealed a microscopic gastrointestinal parasite.

Thankfully, with targeted medication, he’s now fully recovered and back to thriving kitten life 🐾

We recently met the beautiful 1-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog ‘Holiday’ for a desexing and gastropexy consultation 🐶

A gastropexy is a preventative procedure where the stomach is gently sutured to the abdomen wall to stop it from twisting. This surgery is recommended for large, deep-chested breeds to help prevent a life-threatening condition known as gastric torsion/GDV or bloat.

For Holiday, this means one anaesthetic of two procedures, a faster recovery time, and a significant reduction in the risk of gastric torsion later in life.
Preventative care today can make a life saving difference tomorrow🐾

‘Buddy’ the Labrador came in for a routine check after his family noticed a lump that had been slowly growing.Microscopic examination revealed the lump was a Mast Cell Tumour, a type of cancerous mass.

Dr. Ross performed a lumpectomy with wide surgical margins, along with a partial skin graft, to ensure the entire tumour was completely removed. We’re thrilled to share that Buddy had clean surgical margins, meaning the cancer was fully excised!
Buddy has since made a fantastic recovery and is back to his happy, tail-wagging self 🐾💛
