Breeding is not for the faint-hearted.
Like any business, there are wins and losses — but in the breeding world, the choices we make matter deeply. There is always the high road, and there is always the shortcut.
I will always choose the high road.
My dogs mean the world to me. They are not numbers, colours, or “stock” — they are family, and their welfare will always come first. Even if that means I live on egg sandwiches every day, I will do what needs to be done for them.
Rusty is one of those very special little souls who reminds me exactly why we do what we do. He has such a gentle, beautiful nature and so much potential to one day become an accredited Therapy Dog through TASAA.
So if giving Rusty a fair chance at vision means an outlay of $10,000, then that is what I will do.
Because his life matters.
His comfort matters.
His future matters.
And every dog in my care deserves to be given the very best chance — not because it is easy, not because it is cheap, but because it is the right thing to do.
