Since receiving the award, Kim says it gave her the confidence to take the leap into this leadership role—proving this can be a career. She's now supporting and mentoring nurses through education, and is incredibly grateful to the VNCA for the recognition and opportunities that have followed.

A message from our 2025 Mental Health Ambassador - Shannon Molloy.

Hey everyone,

I had the absolute privilege of being named Australia’s first VNCA Mental Health Ambassador this year, and it’s honestly been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.

As part of the role, I was offered a scholarship to attend workshops and events that deepened my understanding of mental health and wellbeing in the veterinary space.

It’s helped me grow both personally and professionally, and I’m so grateful for the chance to be part of something that actually makes a difference.

You don’t have to wait for someone else to nominate you. If you’re passionate about creating a more supportive, safe, and mentally healthy workplace, put your hand up. Nominate yourself. You might be exactly what our profession needs right now.

Or maybe you know someone who checks in on their team, shares resources, leads with kindness, or simply creates a space where others feel safe to be themselves. Nominate them. Quiet achievers count.

Mental health advocacy in vet nursing isn’t a bonus, it’s a necessity.
