Be careful with your pets this holiday season! Dangers are closer than you think!

If you're concerned that your pet may have ingested something that they shouldn't, please call us promptly on 07 5541 0219! 🤓

We all know chocolate is a no-go for dogs... but did you know your festive spread could be hiding even more pet hazards?

🚫 Onions, garlic, chives & leeks – whether raw, cooked or powdered – can damage red blood cells and cause anemia in pets.

🚫 Grapes & raisins – common in fruitcakes, puddings and mince pies – are highly toxic to cats and dogs. Even a nibble can lead to kidney failure.

If you have a medical emergency with your pet, go straight to your local AES hospital.

Vale Wootton Bassett. An outstanding stallion. Our thoughts are with the Magniers and the Coolmore team at this time 🐴

Wootton Bassett 2008 – 2025

Wootton Bassett, one of the world’s great sires has sadly passed away today at Coolmore Australia having suffered from choke and subsequently developing an acute pneumonia which deteriorated rapidly. Despite round-the-clock care from a dedicated team of vets, overseen by Dr Nathan Slovis from Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in Kentucky, he was unable to be saved.

Wootton Bassett’s story as a sire is a unique one. Nicolas de Chambure got him off to an incredible start at Haras d’Etreham in France before he was acquired by Coolmore in 2020. In his time at Coolmore he developed into a world class sire, with 25 Stakes winners and six Group 1 winners from his current two and three-year-old crops conceived in Ireland. Included amongst these are multiple Group 1-winning sons Camille Pissarro and Henri Matisse as well as this season’s multiple Group 1-winning filly, Whirl. His current two-year-old crop in Europe already includes six Group winners. Albert Einstein, who defeated subsequent Group 1 winner Power Blue in the Group 3 Marble Hill Stakes, is considered by both Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore to be one of the best two-year-olds ever seen in Ballydoyle. Two more c**ts, Constitution River and Puerto Rico, have won Group 2 races in recent weeks while a pair of fillies, Composing and Beautify, both scored at the same level. Coolmore’s valued clients have three more crops in the pipeline the first of which will come under the hammer at the yearling sales in the weeks ahead.

In Australia, his first crop is highlighted by this year’s Golden Slipper runner-up and first c**t home Wodeton, who lines up in the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes this weekend for Chris Waller.

We’re seeing a number of tick paralysis cases! Ensure that your pets are up to date. Paralysis ticks can also effect calves and foals ⚠️

Call us on 07 5541 0219 with any questions and how to best protect your animal ⭐️

🚨🐾 Attention Pet Parents! 🐾🚨

With tick season in full swing, it's more important than ever to stay vigilant! We're noticing a surge in tick cases, so knowing the signs is crucial to keep our furry companions safe!

Keep an eye out for symptoms of paralysis ticks in your pets:
🕷️ Persistent coughing or gagging
🕷️ Difficulty breathing or rapid panting
🕷️ Weakness or unsteady on legs
🕷️ Change in voice or excessive drooling
🕷️ Vomiting or regurgitation

If you spot these signs, ACT IMMEDIATELY:
1️⃣ If you find a tick, safely remove the tick using fine-tipped tweezers or a tick remover (remember to bring the pulled tick into the vet for identification)
2️⃣ Seek urgent veterinary assistance for further treatment.

Prevention is key:
🌿 Use vet-recommended tick preventatives consistently.
🚫 Avoid known tick-infested areas or long grass during walks.

Remember to search your pet regularly for ticks, even if your pet is up to date with prevention!

Spread the word to keep our pets safe during this tick season! Share this post and keep a close watch on your furry pals for their well-being! 🐶😺💚
