News from Teddy’s foster carer, Sarah, shows that his recovery is steaming ahead. Rehabilitation with Alicia from VSoS (Veterinary Specialists of Sydney) and sessions of Hydrotherapy as well as Sarah following up with exercises at home show Teddy making remarkable progress. Of course, Teddy has his foster brother, Wally, urging him on from the sidelines. Wally and Teddy have become very close and Wally, the Irish Wolfhound is Teddy’s biggest supporter.

All of Teddy’s rehabilitation is possible because of the GRR’s followers who have donated towards Teddy’s care and continue to wish him well.

Fur, Drool & Mud *** PAWMANITY’s Covers Save the Day (and the Seats!)

GRR would like to send an enormous thank‑you to PAWMANITY for their generous donation of two large cartons of car seat covers and cargo liners. Our foster carers have already been putting them through their paces with an impressive parade of Goldies, each one determined to shed, drool, shake and enthusiastically “express themselves” in the back seat.

The verdict so far: beautifully made, thoughtfully designed and tough enough to withstand a wet dog and a car full of fur. Rumours are circulating among the Goldies that these covers are comfier than the family couch, although the jury’s still out on whether it’s chew-proof.

For volunteers who open their homes, hearts and cars to dogs in need and who spend countless hours ferrying Goldies to safety, vet appointments and specialist consults, having quality protection like this is far more than a convenience; it’s a genuine, sanity‑saving gift that makes day‑to‑day fostering that little bit easier.

These covers have already saved countless interiors from muddy paws, surprise slobber, heroic moulting and the occasional “incident” that only a Golden Retriever can deliver with such confidence and pride. Thanks to Pawmanity, our volunteers can focus on the dogs, not the detailing bill. PAWMANITY, your generosity travels with every rescue, whether they're leaping in with wild abandon or being coaxed aboard with treats and gentle encouragement. No matter their enthusiasm, or lack thereof, for car rides or concern for your upholstery, GRR Foster Carers couldn’t be more grateful.

Teddy is spending quiet time recovering from his hip replacement surgery with his foster carer, a human foster carer and an Irish Wolfhound foster brother. They are keeping Teddy quiet and calm during this long process, and they are doing a good job because Teddy’s stitches have been removed and his rehabilitation has started.

Teddy is looking very cute in his goggles while having his laser therapy, and Sarah, his foster carer has learned how to do his daily exercises.

Rehabilitation after replacement hip surgery is a long process, but Teddy’s team is all over it, and Teddy looks like he is enjoying every moment.

Teddy sends his thanks to the many people who donated towards his surgical expenses and is doing his best to show his many supporters just how far he has improved.

Meet nine-month-old Teddy, who came into GRR’s care two weeks ago. Watching this gorgeous young boy running around the paddock, it was very clear there was something not right with his movement. His family had also noticed that their boy did not move well, and a visit to their vet confirmed their worst fears. Teddy had hip dysplasia, his right hip being in a worse condition than the left. Teddy’s family reached out to GRR, and Teddy was soon making his way to HQ.

A weekend of exploring HQ, and it was time to visit Veterinary Specialists of Sydney (VSoS), where x-rays confirmed the diagnosis given in Q’ld. Sarah, a Vet Nurse at VSoS, put her hand up to foster Teddy and take on the task of building up his muscle tone before surgery could take place. Teddy has spent the last couple of weeks swimming and exploring the family farm with his Irish Wolfhound foster brother, and Teddy’s Orthopaedic Surgeon was so happy with his progress that surgery was scheduled last Thursday.

Teddy came through the surgery really well, and he is currently recuperating and being spoilt by everyone at VSoS.

Many thanks to Teddy’s surgeon, Dr Rob, for his care and expertise and to Sarah, his foster carer, who has taken on the task of Teddy’s rehabilitation.

While VSoS are very generous in helping out GRR with the expenses incurred, hip surgery doesn’t come cheap and while one hip is done and dusted, there is another hip replacement surgery to come when Teddy has completed his rehabilitation. If you would like to help GRR care for Teddy and help towards the cost of his double hip replacement, you can donate by transferring to GRR’s Bank Account:

Happy Easter to all of GRR’s followers and supporters.

While resident Goldie, Clover, was happy to pose for the GRR photo shot, this did not entirely extend to the current Goldies in care at GRR. Two people with mobile phones, a rescue dog that decided that rabbit ears are definitely only for rabbits and two other rescues who surprised their carer by posing beautifully with a little bit of cheekiness thrown in made for an interesting time that took less time than we thought.

Thank you Clover for always helping out with the rescues and also Alfie, Bailey and Brando, you all did yourselves proud. All of these rescue boys are awaiting their visit to GRR’s vet to be desexed and have a complete vet check before they taking their place with their new families.

GRR has an extensive waiting list of wonderful homes so the task of choosing the perfect fit for each of these boys will be the next task.

No dog ate the Chocolate Easter Egg and everyone remember…..…CHOCOLATE IS NOT GOOD FOR DOGS.

Happy Easter and hope the Easter Bunny made it your home.

🐾A Big Thank You to Lyka Dog Food! 🐾

Lyka Dog Food have kindly offered to redirect cancelled orders to GRR. With the cost of providing nutritious meals for the Goldies in our care always rising, GRR is very grateful for this donation of quality dog food.

Thank you Lyka for thinking of GRR and the Goldies in our care! 💛

✨ Happy International Golden Retriever Day! ✨

Today we’re celebrating the goldens who brighten our homes, our routines, and pretty much every corner of our lives. The photos we’re sharing feature rescue goldens — dogs who’ve come from all kinds of backgrounds but still manage to bring smiles to the faces of the Goldie lovers who care for and adopt them.

A huge thank‑you to everyone who fosters, adopts, volunteers, transports, donates, or supports rescue work in any way. These second chances happen because of you.💛🐾

It’s been a busy time at GRR pre and post Christmas with the arrival of several Goldies into foster care in Victoria, the ACT, NSW and South East Queensland.

Yes, as many people have discovered, GRR is helping out in SEQ as Golden Paws Rescue has closed its doors. Golden Paws founder, Bridget, continues her passion for helping goldies by offering to foster and by helping interested people to find their way to GRR.

Several goldies have already found their forever homes in SEQ.

GRR has received many applications to adopt from SEQ, but the number of Goldies being surrendered is small, so GRR has a waitlist of people wanting to adopt, especially younger, trained Goldies.

Unfortunately, few goldies being surrendered fit the bill of being young and well-trained, as they often require patience, care, and training to learn to trust people and become the goldies they were always meant to be.

GRR is celebrating Australia Day by sharing some happy family photos with some of our GRR Goldies who have recently found their forever homes in Victoria, the ACT, NSW and SEQ and wishes all our followers a Happy Australia Day.
