8mth old Filly
Sire: Clydesdale x Percheron x paint
Dam: standardbred

Strawberry has a great temperament and is well handled. She is easy to catch, lead, tie and brush. She picks up all 4 feet and recently saw the farrier for the first time. I have done some groundwork with her and she responds well. We are float training at the moment and she is going well.

Strawberry needs to go to an experienced home. Who can allow her to be a horse and grow up and then further her education when the time comes.

Everyone seems to have a horse that's "a bit hot", "a bit strong", "a bit fresh", or "just god damn pi***ng me off" at the moment. 🫣

Before we go blaming the weather, the moon, or decide your horse has suddenly developed a personality disorder... (LOL)
LET'S have a closer look in the feed room shall we?

Have you
*Added another supplement because so&so on the internerd said it was life-changing? Hmmm.
*Thrown in extra rations/grain because it's got a tad colder?
*Started feeding three different products that you didn't actually realise all do the same bloody thing? 🤦🏽‍♀️

Sometimes we're so busy adding things to fix ABC that we completely ⚖️ UNBALANCE ⚖️ the diet, then wonder why we've suddenly got 500kg of opinions attached to a lead rope bouncing around like a yearling c**t at the sales 🤣

Now ask yourself another question...
➡️Is your horse actually in enough consistent work to match what you're feeding?
CONSISTENCY is key, once a week really isn't acceptable for getting your horse out to work with them if you want them to be a respectful citizen. Let alone anything less.

And finally...
Are you being clear? Or clear as MUD?! 🙄
If your horse is allowed to drag you to the paddock on Monday, mug you for treats on Tuesday, barge through the gate on Wednesday, then gets told off for it on Thursday, that's not training. That's mixed messaging, andddd that's your fault, not theirs.

❗Set the standard.
❗Keep the standard.
❗Expect the same behaviour every day, not just when it's inconvenient.

Sometimes the answer isn't another supplement. Sometimes it's LESS feed, MORE consistency, and CLEARER communication ✅

Your horse will thank you for it... even if they don't look thrilled about it at first.
