To this end, we only stock our practice with the safest and most effective healthcare products, and the highest quality diets. Family members do fall ill though, and they suffer injuries which can be life-threatening. In situations like these, we treat each patient with the same high level of compassion, understanding, empathy and professionalism to quickly relieve pain and suffering, diagnose, and treat, while maintaining good communication with you throughout the process. We are constantly updating our equipment, techniques and building on our combined 70 years of experience in companion animal medicine and surgery. Freya came in for puppy vaccines — but her itchy ears told another story 👂🐶

When little Freya visited us for her puppy vaccinations, her owners mentioned she’d been scratching at her ears more than usual 🐾

After examining her ears and checking samples under the microscope, Dr Natalie confirmed a bilateral yeast infection (Malassezia) 🔬

Ear infections are one of the most common conditions we see in dogs and can become very uncomfortable if left untreated 😔 Dogs with fluffy, hairy, or floppy ears are often more prone to irritation because warmth and moisture can build up inside the ear canal 👂

Signs of an ear infection can include:
• Ear scratching 🐾
• Head shaking 💨
• Redness inside the ears 🔴
• A ye**ty smell 👃
• Dark discharge
• Sensitivity around the ears 🤍

Freya had her ears cleaned during her visit and started medicated ear treatment to help clear the infection 💧 She’ll be back for a recheck next week to ensure everything is improving nicely 🩵

Thank you to Freya’s owners for mentioning the scratching early — small changes at home can often be the first sign something isn’t quite right 🩺🐶

When you dress for the occasion… but still end up at the vet 🎀🐾

Teddy came in today looking very dapper in his bowtie 🐶🎀

But underneath the style, he had a sore spot on his back leg that just wouldn’t settle — something his family noticed he’d been licking at more than usual 👀

After a check with Dr Jeffrey, it turned out to be a hotspot — a common but uncomfortable skin irritation that can pop up quickly and worsen with licking 🔴

We:
• Clipped and cleaned the area ✂️
• Helped soothe the irritation 💧
• Sent Teddy home with medication to support healing 💊

Hotspots can develop faster than many pet owners expect, especially with ongoing licking or moisture trapped in the coat.

If you notice your pet:
• Repeatedly licking or chewing one area 👅
• Red, moist or irritated skin 🔴
• Sudden changes in behaviour around a specific spot ⚠️

…it’s worth getting it checked early before it escalates.

Teddy handled it like a pro — and kept the bowtie on the whole time 💛🐾
