Hey horsey community,

We have a few baron packs to give away of grassy lucerne if anyone from the affected fire areas is in need of some feed. You can pick up from Ballarat or Ballan or we can deliver it locally. Unfortunately we can't make the trip up to the Longwood fire as we have a little one but if anybody is heading that way we would be happy to load them. We are only a small family business but would like to offer our help wherever we can.

Hay testing! 🔬🍭

I’d like to share a little information about hay testing especially when testing for sugar. We like to be as transparent as possible with our customers and try our best to only hand out good quality hay. While testing is a great way to pick the right hay for your horse you must remember that the sugar content will vary across the crop as it is grown in the ground and not in a lab. When we provide test results you can be assured the hay was collected across multiple areas of the crop to get the most accurate reading of the entire lot. If you were to test the same crop again and again you will get different results so if you are unsure or have a very sensitive horse prone to laminitis we suggest you do your own testing or aim for hay that is much lower than 10% to give room for that variation from bale to bale and it’s a good idea to soak your hay to be extra safe.

When collecting your test sample follow the instructions provided by the testing company to get the most accurate results as a grab sample is not a true representative of the lot.

It’s been tough sourcing the last of the Lucerne from farmers sheds but we have managed to get this delivered from NSW until next season kicks off.

$23 per bale as they are a bit stalky but our horses are cleaning it up.

Pick up Wendouree or Ballan,
no minimum for pick up.
Can deliver minimum 25 bales locally for a fee.

Cattle oaten squares $15
Some have a little dampness in them.
