Polar Bear Pet Grooming is Ballarat's premier dog grooming salon. Polar Bear Pet Grooming is a large, bright, open, and airy space in Central Ballarat.

We first opened for business in 2015 and we have since grown into one most well-regarded salons in the city! With an animal-mad team headed by our lead groomer of 12 years experience, we offer grooming services to most dogs, and nail clips on cats, dogs, and small animals. We are confident with all breed grooms and pet styles, and are reachable via Facebook message, or call/SMS at 0407 182 862.

Today was my last day before I close the salon down for a while and let me tell you, I definitely cried 😂 Thank you all so genuinely for 11 years of Polar Bear. Thank you for making my business owner dreams come true. Thank you for the love and support and laughs and chocolate and gifts and flowers and kind words all these years. It gives me so much comfort knowing that if my work holiday plans fall through or if I want to come home early, that I have hundreds of AMAZING clients behind me. I'm looking forward to taking a few months off before we leave, and I'll keep you guys all in the loop with pictures and updates when we do!

I'm sure I'll be back, just going to go with the flow and see where it takes us 🥹

It's time to say it!
After nearly 11 rewarding years, I will be closing Polar Bear Pet Grooming in January 2026 💙

This wasn’t an easy decision but thankfully it's not a failure, it's quite the opposite! With the lease coming up for renewal and no staff to worry about letting down, I think it's the perfect time to take a proper break and try to hype myself up enough to finally do the overseas working holiday I've always dreamed of doing!

I'm not gonna lie, I'm terrified 😂 I opened Polar Bear when I was 21 so I've spent most of my adult life running a business. It's scary to step down, but knowing I can always come back to a wealth of amazing clients is giving me the security I need to take the leap.

My last day will likely be 13 Jan but I'll keep you updated if that changes. However I'm not leaving you guys in the lurch! I'm glad to be able to recommend some other amazing local groomers:

The past decade has been filled with so many gorgeous dogs, so many amazing people, and so many awesome memories I’ll never forget. What started as grooming one dog a week in my backyard shed became a beautiful salon with a full team and hundreds of clients. Thank you — truly — for helping make that dream real.

It gives me so much comfort to know just how many wonderful clients I’ve had the privilege of working with. If my next adventure doesn’t go to plan, I know I’ve got a safety net here and that means the world to me! 💙

As of today, we have officially swapped all our shampoo over to a new product - Jelly Baff!

Why? It's cost effective, non-toxic, smells great, and tastes delicious! We love it, the dogs love it, plumbers hate us, and we have never had more fun at work before!

Polar Bear turns 10 today! I've been taking a trip down memory lane looking at all the ways PB has looked since the beginning. I couldn't find a picture of the home salon in Delacombe but the rest of the salons PB has operated from are here!

It blows my mind to think it's been so long since I started this journey. Thank you all so genuinely. Thank you to each client, each staff member, each friend, and each family member who has helped bring my dream of business ownership into reality. I cannot thank you enough

** Price Restructure - 15 Feb 2025**

2024 has been a year of big changes for us, with the biggest being our shift from five staff members to just two - my sister Kirsty and I. While this has come with challenges it's also been surprisingly welcome, allowing us to focus on running Polar Bear as a small, family-owned business, which we are absolutely loving! 💙

However, with skyrocketing expenses in the 2.5 years since our last price increase and a decrease in number of clients we can service, we need to make some adjustments. This is a restructure rather than a flat across-the-board increase, designed to ensure PB's sustainability without relying on more staff or becoming a production line.

For years, our pricing has been lower than the big box stores, but with this restructure we’ll now be in line with their rates while still offering the personal, loving care that only a small salon can provide. (I’ll also admit I’ve historically undercharged because I appreciate you all so much that I’ve often felt guilty charging appropriately 😅)

To ease the transition, anyone who can't get an appointment before February 15 will still receive one more groom at the current price as a grace period.
