Hi everyone,
I was sorry to read Iain’s post last night and to him and everyone who agreed with him, I am genuinely sorry that you felt let down by our practice. More than that, I am sorry for every missed opportunity to help one of your pets, including Cloud last night.
We are a small team and small teams have limitations. Unfortunately that is just the case. Predominantly, we are a small team because I have found it hard to find experienced, competent and most of all compassionate staff to come to Bakers Hill. Since myself and my team also have families that need us, we therefore had to reduce our hours to “only” 40 hours a week several years ago. I have always been upfront with our clients though and, fortunately, most of our beautiful clients have understood that and have continued to work with us.
At the end of last year (Oct/Nov) I lost 3 beautiful nurses, who needed to move on, and have since been rebuilding the team around me. We are getting there and I have acquired some wonderful new staff, but are not there yet. It is for this reason, and this reason only, that we had an extended closure at the beginning of the year and reopened with further reduced hours in March. Again I was upfront to all my clients about this via a personal letter.
I love being part of the community and I have been proud to be your vet for the past 12 years. And I am deeply grateful for all the beautiful clients and patients we have! I also know how many lives we have saved or made better and that fills my cup as that is why we vets and nurses join this difficult profession in the first place!
I just wanted to clarify to the community “the story” as it’s in the story that you find the truth. And yes we stock snake anti-venom! The multivalent type of course!
