We had 8x OTT horses in the 15km event and 1x in the 40km event. The Tasracing Off the Track sponsored rugs were awarded for best managed horse, which is a veterinarian selected award.

Christi Emery riding her 5yo standardbred Shellbar won the 15 km OTT best managed rug.

Unfortunately there were no successful OTT horses complete the 40km event.

* Ride update *

Firstly we are excited and still going ahead- tomorrow weather forecast is great 😎

However we would like to strongly encourage riders to come in the morning, as to avoid driving in these conditions and also reduce risks to horses at base.

We have lights and will be starting vetting from 5am with 80km briefing at 6:30am.

We will still be vetting from 3pm onwards today if you do arrive this afternoon.
Whilst the wind is up- there will be no riding of horses for exercise this afternoon from base.

The wind should forecast to ease from 8pm onwards wards.

Less than 10mm of rain at base- so it’s still dry

These little legends headed out with me to ‘race the rain’ after school today, to mark the 8km decent down into Narawantpu National Park on foot.

Almost 2hours later we were done ✅ we were exhausted- a lot of up hill climbs in the ‘decent’, but we were still dry!! ✅ We beat the rain!! 😅

And managed a few moments to admire the spectacular views and snaps some photos.

We have a short sharp steep uphill at approx 1.5km from the start of all events (15km, 40km, 80km).

We’d strongly recommend using a breastplate, or at least checking your girth prior to the hill.

Picture for attention- anyone recognise where I stole it from? 😅

Start your daily horse temperature log today, if you are coming to the ride Friday Night.

If you’re arriving Saturday morning, then you need to start your Temperature log tomorrow (Wednesday).

The 4 daily temperatures need to be recorded on the Horse Health Declaration form, which you will receive, when you enter online.

Taking your horses temperature for the 4 days prior to arriving at the ride base is an important measure put in place to protect your horses’ health. An elevated temperature would suggest your horse may be unwell and we don't want to risk spreading a virus or other disease amongst the horses at the event.

All you need is a cheap ($10) thermometer from the chemist. Normal temperature for a horse is between 37.2 to 38.3 degree Celsius. If you have any concerns don't hesitate to contact us.

Your horse will also have it’s temperature taken at the pre-ride vetting.. so the practice at home when the horse is in its normal environment is also important to help keep everyone including your horse feel relaxed & happy in the Vet ring
