Once more it has come to our attention that paying veterinary bills has become a non requirement as a DEMAND of the client.

Need we remind you that as a veterinary business we run the same as all other businesses in town with overheads, wages and other expenses.

It has come to the point where we will be asking clients to pay in advance for any consultations or medications.

If you are a Burdekin, Bowen/Collinsville, Townsville or Charters Towers client and we do a run out to see you, we will have an eftpos machine available on the day to pay for your services.

We are fully aware that unexpected emergencies can happen at the worst possible time but there are options like VetPay that can help with financial assistance. We are more than happy to help you apply for this service if needed.

The current clients who we have reached out to multiple times and refused to finalise outstanding bills have to the end of next Friday (24th July 2026) to clear their balances before further action is taken and we will update our bad debtors list on facebook.

It has been brought to our attention that people are being directed to us to drop off stray animals. Please can we remind everyone that we are a veterinary clinic where we treat sick, vulnerable patients. This simply means we cannot take on strays for the simple matter of keeping our in house patients safe!
We understand it is frustrating, but please the best methods are mentioned in our original post on how to deal with stray animals.

It has been brought to our attention that our local pound drop off point is closing. This will be a major loss to our community and we understand each individuals strong personal perspectives on the matter. In saying this, IT IS NOT OUR RESPONSIBILITY to re-home unwanted or mistreated animals, we do this out of the kindness and love for the animals and we can only take on so many, our clinic kennels are purely for unwell and hospitalized patients who need our devoted care!!

Please if you see a wandering or 'lost' animal.
- leave it where it is (they will often return home)
- ring the council (they have advised on how to contact them in regard to these matters on their website and page)
- bring it to us, we will scan for a microchip and search our database, if there is no microchip, we can no longer keep them with us, it is the persons responsibility bringing it in to then transport the animal to the council. If there is a microchip, we will contact the owner and if contact is made with the owner we can then keep the animal with us until they arrive.

We are sorry for any inconveniences this causes to anyone but it is our primary responsibility to devote our time to helping the patients that require our care.

You may have noticed a new face around the building. Please give a big warm welcome to our new vet, Dr Lucy O’Neill.

We have seen a large increase in the number of horses effected by worms. The simple treatment for this is an ivermectin based wormer. We suggest worming horses at the beginning of each seasonal change.

Worms bring a number of issues and can create many behavioural and physical changes to your horse.

So, pop into the clinic today and grab a Promectin Plus worming paste at a discounted price of $15 to kick off this season's change, worm free.
