LATE NIGHT LEGENDS
Thursday night Shiloh presented at 7:30pm in severe distress. He was unable to urinate. His bladder was about to burst and he had bladder stones obstructing his urethra which meant he couldn’t urinate. He was in a lot of pain and vomiting because his kidneys were shutting down. He needed emergency surgery to unblock his urethra. The calcium oxalate stones were rough and irregular and we were unable to catheterise and flush out the stones so he had to have an emergency urethrotomy. This was quite an anaesthetic risk given his fragile state. Team Treendale worked into the early hours of Friday morning to save Shiloh. Shiloh made it through his anaesthetic and is seen going home this morning.

NO NEED TO GO TO PERTH
This pup was kicked in the head by a horse. He needed a CT to assess for skull fractures and brain issues. His mum was told they had to drive to Perth to get it done. We had it done within 2 hours and saved the client 2 x 4 hour round trips to drive to Perth and back twice and the expense of staying overnight in a 24 hour emergency facility. We do it all. Your best friend is our world

MACY SURVIVES
In your hour of need Team Treendale will be there for you. Emergency hospitals in Perth did not want to take this case so Team Treendale rolled up their sleeves and got it done. Macy is alive because of the quick thinking of her mum who is a human nurse and because of the experience of our people and the vast array of equipment we have invested in to make sure we can provide a great service. Treendale has a world class facility and we have the tools and equipment to deal with most situations. People who work at Treendale are dedicated and committed and will go above and beyond to assist clients and pets in need. Your best friend is our world.

TONIGHT ON LATE NIGHT LEGENDS
It wasn’t even our night on call. At 7:59pm seconds before closing Macy presented in acute respiratory distress. This isn’t uncommon for French Bulldogs but her mum was worried Macy was choking on something because she was seen chewing something moments before she started choking and foaming and turning blue.
We took some radiographs and there was something stuck in her oesophagus. It looked a bit like a corn cob but after consultation with Macy’s mum, she believed it was a chew toy. We put an endoscope down her oesophagus. This thing was wedged in and jammed tight. It wasn’t possible to grab it and pull it out. We gave it a gentle push but it wasn’t budging. We didn’t want to tear the oesophagus. It was looking like Macy might need a thoracotomy (open chest surgery). Patients that have a thoracotomy need round the clock care. Dr Rob and super nurse Catelyne had already worked a 15 hour day. We called some emergency hospitals in Perth but they were unable to take the case. After consultation with Macy’s mum we thought we would have another try at moving it from the oesophagus. Millimetre by millimetre we were able to slowly move the immovable object. Somehow we were able to move it out of the oesophagus. Macy is now in recovery and doing well. Team Treendale saves the day 😊

NO NEED TO GO TO PERTH
Treendale can do a CT on site.
If the diagnosis isn’t obvious we can send the images to American board certified specialists via the cloud who look at it during the night. The Ameran specialists in radiology read the CT and send a report . We usually have the results the morning after the procedure
Super nurse Anin is assisting with a CT on Penny.

You don’t need Treendale until you do.
We are open Sunday even though Dr Rob has to work seven days a week.
Dr Rob is on call and available for our clients even though he is the only vet.
You and your pet are important to us.
Ask your vet if they will be there for you in your hour of need? Most people don’t know their vet is unavailable until they have an emergency.

Bella has been having a lot of trouble on her leg. After X-rays today it was determined she had ruptured her cranial cruciate (ACL in people). She has had a TPLO - Tibial Plateau Levelling Osteotomy. At surgery it was discovered she had a badly torn and macerated meniscus. This has been cleaned up and hopefully after she heals she will have a leg she can walk on. Bella is pictured having laser therapy after her surgery. Laser reduces pain and inflammation and promotes healing. Faster healing reduces the chance of infection. We use Swiss made KYON plates. The titanium alloys have a lower risk of infection. Bella also had Platelets Rich Plasma to assist her joint to heal following the injury and surgery

Most of our staff will be back in action this week. Sincere apologies for last weeks cancellations and a few early closures. COVID wiped out our team last week and there was only a few brave souls to plug the gaps. Our team is back on track and things should be back to normal as the week progresses. There a few bleary eyes and some very fatigued people so we ask for your kindness. We are doing our best to keep the machine turning. Covid affects people differently it seems. Some people get a terrible fatigue that lasts for weeks or even months. Thank you for your patience the last week and sincere apologies to anyone we had to reschedule.
